Similar to Villanova, Fordham, Boston university

I am a junior and have been to a couple colleges. I have a 3.65 GPA at a very prestigious high school, known for great academics. I loved Villanova when I went, same with Boston college but that is very hard to get into. Boston university was great and so was Fordham. But I just dont know where else to look. I would love a medium sized school: 5,000-15,000 students. East coast preferably. I’m just stuck on where else to look. Any recommendations?

Looks like you want urban/suburban northeastern mid-sized schools? Consider Providence, Northeastern,Fairfield, GW, American Marist. Lehigh could be an option academically if you will go further from an urban area and are OK with Greek Life. As safetys UScranton, Drexel, and St. Joes. Once you have standardized test scores you can get a more accurate list.

I would also get your hands on some college guide books (ex. Fiske, Princeton Review) and spend time reading through those. They can often be found in your guidance dept. or a library if you don’t want to purchase them. Also run the Supermatch function to the left.

Be sure schools appear affordable and have your intended major.

Yes urban and suburban areas are my top ones. Checked out providence and loved it. I didn’t like northeastern. ACT scores for me are going to be around 29 or 30

I’d think that GW would be a reach too. Catholic has a great DC location and a real campus.

What school would you recommend for business

I second St. Joe’s as a great backup for someone who loves Villanova. Check out Seton Hall in New Jersey, Duquesne in Pittsburgh, and Loyola Maryland, too.

If you’re willing to look at cities in the Midwest, St. Louis U, Xavier in Cincinnati, John Carroll, U of Dayton, and Marquette might be terrific fits.

I believe all of the schools on my list have business. With the ACT you mentioned I think GW and Lehigh (as well a BC and Villanova from your original list) will be reaches. For full disclosure my S went to Fordham- Gabelli and had a great experience there.

Thanks for all your helps guys. I’m from Chicago and loved Marquette, but just kind of want to get out of Midwest. I think I have a solid list, just trying to figure out if I missed any schools that are worth checking out. Thank you!

Lehigh, Boston College, Northeastern, and Bentley might be good fits

URochester would appear to match your basic criteria really well.

Pittsburgh

^^^OP asked for medium sized (5,000 - 15,000 students) schools – Pitt has over 34,000 students

Smu in Dallas has a large-ish Chicago population. I was looking at similar schools when I looked into it, and you won’t have the harsh winters, which is nice. Being from Columbus, Ohio I wanted to be as warm as possible when walking to class in November, and that has been my experience here.

I dont mind the cold weather. I really like winter. I heard about Rochester, seems like a nice school, but that is like the tundra up there.

Though Rochester receives real winter snow suitable for the adventurous (a plus in my opinion), their minimum temperatures do not differ appreciably from some other Northeastern locations:

Average January Low

Rochester: 17.6°

Boston: 19.7°

Happy, Pitt & BU are about the same size, & op likes BU…only half of that 34,000 are ft undergraduates.

What do you guys thunk of emory university?

Generally, your schools of interest tend to be those that are currently often condidered by high school students. Based on this popularity factor alone, Emory would tend to share qualities with some of your listed choices.

Emory, though, may be comparatively more competitive than most of them with respect to admissions (the below can be used as rough guide with respect to this):
