Smith College Class of 2015 RD waiting Thread

Thank you for your replies. She will contact them tomorrow to get the information. Good luck to all still waiting for a decision.

On the Smith college 2015 facebook page, someone wrote that decisions were being mailed out today for RD. Is this true?

I doubt that. The admissions office told one of the posters here that it would be on the 25th, and you should trust what they have to say. It’s not uncommon for people to post on Facebook and even on CC conflicting info, but the admissions office is the final official word on this.

That came from a kid who was admitted ED and begs the question(which I posted on the site)How would she know this? Very skeptical.

Any word on STRIDE yet?

Does anyone know what the acceptance letters for Smith look like? Big? Small?

online it is super small/ brief and impersonal.
in the mail, it’s in this big folder with a nice letter and financial aid info :)

So is the general consensus that decisions are coming out next Friday? Do they e-mail you decisions that day or do you have to check on bannerweb?
gahhhhhhhh I AM SO NERVOUS.

You go on bannerweb to check. It probably won’t be right at the stroke of midnight on the 25th either, you should understand. It’s usually in the afternoon, around 5 PM or so, so just brace yourself. When you go to Bannerweb that day, it should tell you what time the decisions will be up (or you’ll get an email in advance telling you).

My D was wait listed at Mt. Holyoke. Do you think students wait listed or rejected from Mt. Holyoke, or Wellesley, etc, stand a chance of being accepted at Smith? She is losing hope, and really LOVES everything about Smith. (She applied to Mt. Holyoke to appease me, but getting wait listed was a surprise, and now she is sure Smith won’t want her.)

@teachandmom, I am wondering the same thing. I was rejected today from Mount Holyoke and got an “unlikely” from wellesley. I really hope to get into smith, Barnard, Bryn Mawr. I don’t know what to expect anymore. I really hope I get into Smith. I had a fantastic smith alumna interview, and I had mentioned it was my first choice to my interviewer, and I had a smith overnight as well which went great. I feel like I don’t know what to expect anymore after being rejected from five colleges and only being accepted to my safety DePaul in Chicago with a 18,000 a year merit scholarship. I am really hoping to hear good news from smith. As for your daughter, I have no idea what to expect for her, but I would assume that if she was waitlisted at Mount Holyoke, it wouldn’t mean that she wouldn’t get into smith. All colleges are different in what they look for. But I really wish her the best of luck and hopes she gets into smith! :)

I’m hoping I make into smith. I didn’t make Moho but like Smith I had an alumna interview and they have been in touch with me etc. I’m starting to think if Moho didn’t want me then maybe smith wont want me too.
I guess I’ll just wait and see.

Add my dd to the wait list group at MoHo and praying for Smith and one more school to which we don’t believe we will hear from until the end of next week. MoHo seemed the most likely of the 3 and statistically it is a good fit. She has great gpa, extra currics, reccomendations, great interview. Right along with many others she is feeling that if MoHo did not want her, nobody will. (She does have other target and safeties to choose from, but really wanted MoHo). I am sure that she and the rest of you going through the same thing, will all end up at the best place for you and thrive, but as a mom speaking, the hurt one feels when their child is hurting, is the worst.

It’s not easy to predict these things, as so many factors go in to making an admissions decision. Getting rejected or waitlisted in one place does not neccessarily mean anything about your chances of acceptance at another. I know someone who was accepted at a top 5 law school, but rejected by the number 10 ranked law school. You just never know until the decisions are out. Good luck to all of you!

I’m not sure I can wait another week.

Same here. At this point, I just want to know my decision now. Next week seems so far away…

We’re all rooting for you all. Frankly I think this is the toughest part of the whole process–the waiting, not knowing and feeling so vulnerable. All of you have much to offer and will find fine schools where you will take advantage of wonderful opportunities because that’s who you are. The hard part is you just don’t know yet where that will be. But you will weather this process and be fine. Hang in there!

Got my STRIDE letter today! :)

Congrats!!! where do you live?

yay. I’m so glad the letters are coming. I’ll be calling some of you all on Tuesday between 7 and 9 :)
