Let’s start a thread to give hope to the people who score low on either the SAT or ACT. So what was your low test score that still got you into Brown?

I got a 31 on the ACT. Not really “low,” but is for ivy standards. And i got in ED.

I like the idea of this thread. I have a 26 and am still hoping for Brown.

[Brown Admission: Facts & Figures](Undergraduate Admission | Brown University)

This is definitely your best resource! Brown took the time to break down the number of people who applied and ultimately accepted based on test score ranges. I think this is very helpful and informative.

^ Even though my score is in the range it gives, I feel like accepted students’ scores always end up being much higher, haha

This makes me feel REALLY REALLY good. :)

But the point is that there are people accepted in every score range. That should be “hope” enough–clearly, applicants are worth more than their test scores which I think that link shows. There’s nothing you can do about your score now, so try not to stress over it! Best of luck!

25 ACT with a 10 essay and hoping. You never know!

25 ACT with an 8 essay, AND hoping. I’m stretching it as far as I can!

I’ve got a 26 ACT w/ an 8 essay… This thread makes me feel like i have a place. It seems everyone else on CC has a 36 and a 4.0+.

1920 SAT. Definitely not even close to the range which Brown expects but let’s give faith some ground.

I got in with 2000 SATs and a 29 ACT.

Keep your hopes up.

As much as scores are important, it’s really all about talent and having a passion at Brown, especially with their Open Curriculum.

^ I wish I coukld agree with tht, but I can’t. academics are #1 and will remain tht way. Talent/awards/unusual ECs/sports could skew things a bit, but Brown would not be Brown if it wasn’t for the highly intellectual student body. So, for those saying tht scores aren’t important, thts not completely true. It’s just not looked as highly upon as, for instance, yale or princeton.

^^^yes, but what one person “calls” a low test score might be a high test score to someone else. That said, it’s absolutely true that a student’s academic level consisting of rigorous transcript, gpa, SAT/ACT all matter. But there’s not a particular number, which is my point.

^Exactly. Scores are for sure relative and depend on such things as talent/awards/ECs/ school/family cirumstances/etc. This thread is kind of pointless because no one number determines acceptance. Like I said earlier, visit that website with the numbers provided–that’s your best source! Best of luck and congrats to you swim2daend!

25 act 11 writing…1770 (660, 500, 610 CR, M, W) sat…HOPE and PRAYER!

2060 SAT, will find out in a couple weeks

you just made my day!

If you said here’s hoping or anything of that sort, if you don’t mind, can you post your results? It would really help.
