My friend completed his application but is still waiting for his school to send his transcripts to UT. Would his application be considered late?
yes @longhorntobe
@longhorntobe - it depends. If he submitted transcripts for the work he already has done and they are just waiting for spring transcripts - then no. If he didn’t submit any transcripts, then yes. My daughter’s application tab says something like “your application is complete. It will be reviewed upon receiving transcripts for all 30 hours”
To the folks complaining about decision times…
Freshman decisions have already been made, for starters.
For transfers, the deadline wasn’t until March 7th this year, so an April-June decision time isn’t that bad, considering how competitive the school is. Also, if you have less than 30 hours, they can’t even look at your application until your Spring grades are submitted at the end of May.
Not trying to sound rude, in any way, just pointing out the factors in the situation.
I think folks are worried about the timeline because it’s a big decision to transfer a school and definitely a sense of security to know where you’ll be in the fall. Some of us too (including me) are out of state, so we’re waiting to hear an acceptance to figure out how we’re moving.
@cls4763 I too am out of state, Arizona. I know how everyone feels. I guess I have a slightly different wait than everyone else; I am permanently moving to Austin with my hubby. So, we are already moving regardless of being accepted. We will just keep applying until they accept us lol!
I see both sides of this. Colleges like UT want to see the full first year performance before making a decision on transfer applicants; however, they make decisions on a student’s ability to do well in college based on their high school performance (much of it through only the first 3 1/2 years). My daughter has applications in to several schools for transfer and she’s already received acceptances to several schools, all of them large state flagships, and other decisions are expected in the next two weeks to one month. While I don’t believe HS performance is always indicative of college performance, I understand the thought on this. At the same time, it’s certainly no definite indicator either. My daughter’s college grades are better than HS, mostly due to maturity. I honestly believe that UT has such limited space that the lengthy decision time frame helps to weed students out naturally rather than admissions having to do that and maybe it’s one reason why UT doesn’t give decisions earlier like other schools.
Will admission decisions be posted on the “My Status” page or will they be emailed/mailed out??
Here guys, you can check what courses have been counted for your transfer

Doesn’t work for out of state but, the application evaluator told me himself all of my credits transferred.
So… quick question…
After combing the UT Austin website, I came across this statement from them regarding OUT OF STATE transfers…
“Evaluation of individual courses taken at out-of-state institutions is not available over the phone, in person, or by email. Specific course evaluations and decisions about the transferability of individual courses are made only after an application has been admitted.”
I spoke with an application evaluator, as stated above (lol) on the phone, and he informed me all of my classes transferred, except my maths (pre reqs, not at Calculus yet)… SOOO… does this mean I’m in??
I’m trying to not read into it too far, however, lol it’s hard not to, when I spoke with an evaluator on the phone about this.
Any out of state folks out there see their credits accepted in scholarship form? Anyone out of state NOT seeing credits transferred?
@britni12 the only thing I see on MyStatus in regards to transfer credits is under my scholarship biographical information. It says “Number of Transfer Credit Hours” and then a number. I don’t know if that means those are credits they’ve accepted or if it’s just raw data from my transcripts that I’ve submitted for review.
@cls4763 At my university, I have 58 hours. They show 57 on that page. I’m assuming that means that is what they are accepting!
@cls4763 @liberalguy97
What does it say in your biographical info in the scholarship? Do you have a number of credits, a transfer GPA, and then a cumulative GPA of 0.00? Also, what does it say underneath your Financial Aid tab, does it say please check back, or something else? Anyone else out there out of state, please feel free to chime in
@cls4763 Are you out of state? If so, I can almost assure you it is not raw data that was just auto transferred from your transcripts. I think that is more for in state, there is a system that automatically does it. I called and spoke with an application evaluator (the people who evaluate your transcripts), and he informed me all of my credits transferred, except maths… (I feel like I have said this 100 times LOL sorry if anyone out there has read that statement a million times) so, this would mean that someone had to research the classes I took out of state, to determine if they transfer.
In my biographical information, it has everything listed: my major, college, first semester of enrollment, GPA, grade level, and transferable credits. It lists my actual GPA, not 0.00. Everything is listed as it appeared on my application. My financial aid tab says “Decisions about financial aid will be made after you have been officially admitted to the university and your financial aid application has been processed.”
And yes, I am very much out of state (coming from Boston!).
@cis4763 Does it say on your MyStatus if your application is in review yet?
@2016falltransfer no I’m hoping soon, I submitted my application at the end of January!
@cis4763 Same here. I was looking on the thread for the fall 2015 transfers and I saw that people began getting their applications put into review around the 25th of March. Hopefully they come this week. I submitted my application in October but completed it on January 18th so hopefully stuff starts happening soon.
@cis4763 have you completed your scholarship application under the financial aide tab?
