***Stanford Class of 2020 Applicant Discussion***

It actually feels real now oh gosh :expressionless:
I’ll probably start crying even before opening that email

If only I still lived in India and was international…applying from california is so damn hard :frowning:

From Columbia ED Applicants,

Good luck to you all! You are amazing students and will all find a place for yourself in the world, no matter where you go. Try to find relaxation in these next few days guys, as decisions will be stressful enough!

Goodnight Guys!

@nonzie I’m in the exact same situation… I used to live in Mumbai and now I’m applying as a California resident.

@humanperson EXACTLY which is now a bummer since it’s actually detrimental to live so close to Stanford. I guess we’ll just have to hope

@PilotKhyle On behalf of the Stanford REA Applicants, good luck tomorrow! No matter what happens, it’ll all work out in the next few months.

Stress and anticipation are to the max right now . . . so close to finding out! I have tried not to have my hopes up like I did last year (long story) but now I have them up. . . . . so afraid to be rejected by my dream school and then have my dream being officially over. But from here on out, I am trying to have a positive attitude and have faith in God. Good luck everyone. As the saying goes, “May the odds be ever in your favor!”

Honestly, I’d rather have a rejection tomorrow than a deferral…

@nonzie @humanperson
How is it a disadvantage to apply from California?

Don’t results come out Friday, not tomorrow?

Really @LikeThis but as a deferral you still have a chance of getting in.

@chunkylumbee Yeah, I’m being irrational about it, but I’m really tired of waiting and I really want to know for sure…

@Apricityn Where I am tomorrow is Friday!

@potatoheadhala You’re not at a disadvantage if you apply from California per se. I will admit that I haven’t checked if this is true for Stanford, but for a lot of colleges international students have an advantage when it comes to diversity. Theoretically, if I had the same application but applied as an Indian resident rather than a Los Angeles resident, I might seem more desirable to the institution.

@LikeThis The decision will be released Friday 4pm Pacific Time. So you would probably find out Saturday where you are.

@humanperson Well, Indians aren’t exactly a minority in the US :stuck_out_tongue: so I’m not too sure if it’s a significant factor here.
BTW I was born in the US and now live in Bangalore, so it’s the exact opposite situation!

Indians, and Asians in general, are considered an Over Represented Minority; so, if anything, being an Indian national would go against you. Don’t also forget that acceptance rates are much lower for international students.

Did anyone get decisions already (or likely letters)? I’m a Princeton early applicant, but one of my friends said he got accepted early to Stanford, but from what I know, the decision hasn’t even been released. Maybe for athletes or legacies…?

I seem to remember seeing that financial aid packages are released along with the acceptance, but I can’t seem to find my source again. Can anyone confirm?

Oh and @TheUltimateNerd Your friend might have done QuestBridge? I’m not sure but they might get notified earlier? I’m a legacy and I haven’t been notified yet.

Yeah QB applicants were notified on Nov 1st

@GoodLuckBros his family is wealthy enough to afford him a service trip abroad, so I don’t think he qualifies for QuestBridge. And he’s not a legacy to Stanford either so I’m not sure what’s up. I don’t think there’s a point in lying anyways.
