***Stanford Class of 2020 Applicant Discussion***

@followthelines Stanford and MIT are very different schools looking for very different things. I’m sure you’re a very competitive applicant, so being rejected from MIT has no bearing on Stanford. If they did, the schools wouldn’t have to conduct separate admissions processes :stuck_out_tongue:

Cornell likely but MIT and Caltech waitlist; what’s my chance at Stanford…

@labyrinth1997 pretty good; you’re clearly very competitive for the top schools. Obviously, since it’s Stanford, don’t expect anything though.

OMG is the wait killing anyone else? I have finals tomorrow and my mind keeps drifting off to whether or not I’ll be accepted :))

Rejected by MIT today(not like I had a chance), losing all hope of getting into Stanford, have been dreaming about it for too long, this honestly sucks :"( if you want to see my stats(http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/19269106/#Comment_19269106)

@anandrishabh1 did you apply to the IITs?

@anandrishabh1 Same, got rejected by MIT and Caltech, didn’t seem to have a chance, but I hope I have better chances in Stanford or any other ivies that I have applied to, for that matter.

Rejected by MIT, but I didn’t think I was a great fit for their profile anyway. Stanford has always been my dream school, and I honestly think they the best fit for me of all universities out there, if not the best possible fit. Let’s hope for the best!

@khanam you don’t apply to the IITs xD, you write an exam of physics chemistry and math irrespective of your major along with more than a million candidates (a little fuzzy on the numbers) and the acceptance rate is less than 1% and IB CAN’T prepare you for the degree of difficulty of that exam so nope :stuck_out_tongue:

International applicant, rejected by MIT and Caltech, very little chances of getting in. Dream was nice for the time it lasted… I’ll have to suffer in Europe for 4 more years…oh well :frowning:

@smartypants57 kk thanks!!

@niko7768 Hey, don’t worry, keep up your hopes for the rest of the colleges you’ve applied to. I am an international applicant from India, and have also been rejected by Caltech and MIT… :frowning: But still cannot lose hope until the rest of the results are out. :slight_smile: Although the deferral from Harvard does not bode well, I am still hopeful, and I think you should try to stay positive too. :slight_smile:

@blazedragon
Thanks! :slight_smile: good luck for your results!! Unfortunately for me it’s stanford or nothing for the US. I’ve been accepted to Imperial College London but I wanted to get a well rounded education from the US universities. I aimed too high…Thanks though! I wish you best of luck and success!! :slight_smile:

@niko7768 I totally understand the feeling! Even I think I aimed too high, but I have applied to a few more colleges, so I still have hopes, but congratulations for being accepted in Imperial College! It’s a nice place to start your undergrad education…you could try for US education again for your postgraduate studies, or maybe go there for an internship too! :slight_smile: So it’s not the end of the road.
Anyway, thanks for your wishes, let’s hope I get accepted at least somewhere xD
Now I think I have started rambling…I am having phases of hopelessness and then suddenly brimming with hope randomly since March 1 xD So I hope you don’t mind. Anyway, best of luck to you too! :smiley:

@blazedragon
Ahahah, don’t worry I had the same phases as well :wink:
I hope that next week, when decisions will be out, we can shout with pride, “The wind of freedom blows!!”
Have fun :smiley:

Hey Everyone :slight_smile: Could anyone be willing to give my essays a read? My scores werent that great (31 ACT and 3.92 GPA) but I believe my essay was pretty good. Just want a point of view of someone other than my counselor

@niko7768 i completely understand ur feelings…. i got in to UCL and Warwick (no where near as good as Imperial) and my family really wants me to go to the UK but i myself definitely want to go to the US. i feel like i aimed to high as well :’( so scared that ill end up with zero acceptance for schools i want to go to…. Anyways we just gotta wait n see. Best of luck to u!

@Yankxy
Congratulations UCL and Warwick are fantastic!! I understand your feelings completely, there’s something really special about schools in US. (It’s like they have casted a spell on me) Hope is last to die, so good luck to you as well!! :slight_smile:

Good luck guys! I am a US applicant and I have gotten into some small liberal arts, Purdue, and a few state colleges with honors almost everywhere. My way too low of an ACT (27…I don’t test that well) is scaring me. Stanford is my dream school and I’m hoping all my work in animal conservation can help me out. I really hope I get in and I am going through those times of hopelessness and hope as well. Good luck to everyone!!!

Honestly there is a chance. On the Stanford class of 2019 profile there are some people who have gotten in with an sat critical reading and writing 600 or less. So it’s possible. Don’t lose hope but don’t put all your eggs in one basket because someone with a 2400 sat or 36 act can get rejected but then someone with a sat of 1700 can get accepted. It all depends on how Stanford views how much of a fit you are for the school and if they really want to admit you or not because honestly some people get in because of their amazing personality the adcoms see on applications. Just hope for the best fit for you to accept you.
