***Stanford Class of 2020 Applicant Discussion***

@Anonymoose3 that was just something they were testing for a short while it seems. everyone got it and then everyone had it go away

I’ve talked to Stanford students and many told me they received their decisions 2-3 days EARLIER than the notification date. So, brace yourself for a decisíon as early as mid next week. A current sophomore at Stanford told me she read her Stanford acceptance email on accident…a

How do they release decisions?

Current Stanford students I talked to got emails, but some individual in this thread said no email will go out and to just check the portal. (new procedure?). My guess is an email will go out, just like how all the other schools do it. Hard to believe an email wouldn’t go out.

Ah, I see @khanam - thanks!

@kahllegebaddie123 what? What did I say :slight_smile:

@kornido I’m confused, how did she accidentally read her acceptance email?

I just want to know the most likely Stanford decision date.

  • Please read the post linked above. Since there is no reason to expect that Stanford will inform the deferred candidates a week later than the RD candidates, it is illogical to expect that March 25th is not the admission date based on the currently available information.

Unless there is confirmation otherwise from official stanford sources, April 1 seems to be the date. Maybe something will change between now and April 1 but anything else so far is like reading tea leaves.

You may get an email, you may not. I was a Stanford EA admit and Stanford told us the exact time decisions would be out so I knew to check and did not get an email. However, my friend did not realize decisions were out and did not check and was emailed the morning after. I’m guessing they send out emails to those who have not logged onto their portals and checked. Best of luck to everyone!

Since we’ve pretty much confirmed that decisions come out 3/25, what about the time? Anybody know what time they usually release RD?

@Scriant we don’t know anything for sure yet

@smartypants57 Well at least as much as we can through induction.

Confused because Stanford website says April 1 for RD decisions. Do they usually release earlier than whats stated on the website?

@RiemannB Its by April 1st not on it.

We also do have some reports of EA deferrees who said that the email said that decisions would come out at the end of the month

http://admission.stanford.edu/application/deadlines/index.html - this seems to suggest an exact date.

However, Stanford had released ED decisions on the 12/11 even though the exact date on the site was the 12/15. And last year RD was on 3/27. So… its a guessing game except that the last 2 years RD, ED decisions were all released on a Friday.

For those who wish to get the date directly… Follow ApplyStanford on Twitter. Typically they tweet 2 days before decision date. So if the 2 possible dates are either 3/25 and 4/1, if you do not see a tweet on 3/23 - it will indicate that results will be announced on 4/1.

-continues speculating anyway because I literally have nothing to do with my free time and I’m too lazy to anything while waiting-

I find it unlikely that it would be announced on 4/1. It has always felt that April 1 is an invisible barrier that colleges don’t pass for RD results (with a /few/ exceptions, but not for schools like Stanford).
Also, it’s only hard for us to decide between 4/1 and 3/25 because 4/1 just happens to fall on a Friday this year. Maybe we can go back 5 (or so. I can’t do math with leap years, haha) years to see what happened last time 4/1 was a Friday (though back then maybe results were still sent by mail).

@Scriant Lol, yeah they were emailing 2 years ago when a friend’s son was accepted. 5 years ago was most likely by mail I would guess as well

Actually, maybe it /is/ 4/1, if the person in http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/19413616/#Comment_19413616 is right.
