***Stanford Class of 2020 Deferred Thread***

Do you guys know where to find the optional update form and when it’s due? Have any of you guys submitted it yet?

@FiveFactorial - it’s been a couple of years since my ds was deferred, but if memory serves me correctly, there was a link or a form in the e-mail that notified you of the deferral. I believe the last date to submit is February 1st.

Bump for @fitts6 . I’m also first gen with a lacking UW GPA (3.77) but 35 ACT.

@FiveFactorial go to the application tracker (stanford should’ve sent you an e-mail with a link to set-up your account awhile ago), and then you will see a link that says optional report.
there’s three questions and they’re due before March 1st.

I was deferred as well!
I have a question regarding sending in my mid year report. I did well in all my classes, getting all 4.0’s, one 3.5, and one 3.0. However, this is my first 3.0 ever and I am not proud of it. It was in AP Calc (I am an English/History type-student applying as interested in Government. Also, my school weighs AP’s with .4 added so it could be called a 3.4). Will this 3.0 effect my chances? Will it be analyzed as a downside to my application?

Yes. I am.

That was to @XScorpio

@ksnike97 lol. I did the same. I was told they are not allowed to discuss that as well. I guess we have to wait and see

I’ve heard that sending an email, on top of the Optional Update Form, is recommended as it shows your continued interest; has anyone done this? I’m really not sure who to email, or if I should at all.
Someone also doing this?

Question about the Optional Update Form: for the section “Describe any other information (or unusual circumstances) that you believe the Admission Committee should be aware of in evaluation your application”, is it okay to mention that Stanford is still my #1 choice and that I would attend if admitted? I wasn’t sure if this section was solely for unusual circumstances, or if “other information” could include continued interest, so I’d appreciate if anyone could please let me know.

@123mh456 Do not send an email. Unlikely that it even gets read.
@Lovemydolphins You can mention that if you like, but doing so will not help you get accepted.

Since you applied for early admission, they already know that you are very interested in attending and probably assume that you would accept their offer since 80% or so do.

IMHO, it doesn’t add any extra info and wouldn’t have an impact. I would try to find something new to add to your application since that is what they are giving you the option to add.

Good luck!

How’s everyone holding up? Anyone not sending in the deferral update form?

@jetynz I’m considering not doing it, mostly just because I haven’t started yet…

Is April 1st definitive? I’ve heard that they usually do the Friday after Ivies, and those are March 31st… In the past, have they ever released on a different day of week?

@maestroarvind I have heard that the date will be March 25. Not even close to sure though…

Stanford releases usually on a Friday afternoon. In the past they have released the day after Ivy day but they were early with their SCEA results for this batch and so it is possible. They will announce a specific date soon if they are moving it to March 25th.

Seeing as they announced for REA only on Dec 9th, seems like we’ll have to wait a while before we get a definitive date.

@1golfer1 where’d you hear about March 25? Am really praying for that, because April 1 is too far away for me

@maestroarvind I don’t think they’ve officially announced it, but there’s speculation that it’s March 25. REA was supposed to be released on December 15 but ended up going out on December 11.

Just hold on, we’re almost there!
