Stanford Class of 2022 Discussion/Decisions

@AimingTop50 Thanks buddy :slight_smile:
Yes, I think I can make 1500 +. Essays will probably never be my strong point, but if I can demonstrate a lot of leadership that could be enough

@ACEPLUS No problem. Honestly, if I get in I will feel more qualified to give advice! So wait till December lol before you follow anything I say (somewhat kidding, somewhat serious)

@hopefullll I’ve been trying to not go insane over college applications, but I feel exactly the same way (I’m applying REA, too). I’ve started to imagine how I’ll feel when I’m logging into wherever to see if I was rejected or accepted on that chilly December day… Plus, I’m such an impatient person — I haven’t even submitted my application yet, and I already just want to know if I’ll get accepted or not.

I was looking at this other thread about Class of 2020’s REA results that included some application details because I was getting overly stressed. And, I just thought it was funny that nearly everyone rated their essays an 8, 9 or 10 out of 10 since people tend to overestimate their capabilities (including myself, aaah).

@nerdbelle Applying REA increases your chance of admission three times (you can check statistics on previous years.) Yield is important to the university: if you apply REA, it signals to the committee that you are serious about Stanford and you are less likely to pick another school if you are cross-admitted to another HYSPM college. If you are a strong candidate and you want Stanford more than any other schools, you should apply REA to Stanford.

Hey everyone! Is there any benefit to submitting your application before the deadline? I’m applying REA and I had planned to submit my application early October because I heard it would boost your chances, but I’ve fallen behind so I’ll probably submit my application by next Friday. Nervous I’ve hurt my chances. Is anyone else still working on their application?

Good luck to everyone

@luckymaple Will absolutely not boost your chances. I only submitted mine earlier so I could make sure that everything was in on time! I set a rule for myself: to submit two weeks before deadlines.

You heard wrong. The only advantage for you is that it gets it off your plate. Most AO’s are still out in the field doing college fairs, so it’s not like they are reading you applications as they come in.

Hey everyone! Class of 2023 applicant here, just wanted to say good luck to everyone applying this year! You are all incredibly talented and amazing individuals  Your AO’s will be fighting for you!

Hey guys, I was wondering if you could give me an idea of my probability of getting into Stanford. I applied a while ago because I am being recruited by the Stanford Men’s Volleyball team. Initially, I was accepted into the athlete pool, but they said that if I were to apply for financial aid (which I am) then my application would be deferred into the international applicant pool in need for financial aid (because I am Canadian)
Just a quick bio:
I am an avid volleyball player being recruited by the Stanford men’s volleyball team.
I scored 1460 on SATs
790 in math
670 in reading and writing
I have a 4.0 GPA and am taking 4 AP classes (the most offfered in my school)
I’ve won multiple awards in volleyball and have competed nationally and internationally.
I play Pokemon cards. I won the Canadian national championships in 2011, and have made 4 world championship appearances.
I trade stocks in the stock market. Have done this for two years.
I am the founder of my investment club at my school; as well as a member of chess club, computer science club, math club at my school.
Also, I’ve done a number of volunteer activities; coaching volleyball to my local youth volleyball club, working with Habitat for Humanity and helping out with the Foresters group.
Can anyone share any insight into whether I may be accepted or not at Stanford with this application.

@123JayLui858 no one here can or will accurately chance you. just try your best and good luck

@orange8monkey Same wowww. I’m so nervous because I feel like I don’t have that edge (the research/invention, special awards, or super unique passion) that usually is the driving factor behind Stanford admission. Hoping for the best, but also freaking out hardcore :-/
