@rrsp23 I got that same email today. I’m pretty sure it’s a likely letter?
I’m not an athletic recruit, didn’t apply REA, and have zero connections. Looks like Stanford does send likely letters to normal people!
@HeartOfTheCards If what you received reads the same as what @rrsp23 just described, “I am writing with an early notification of your admission…” that is not a likely letter, it is an actual acceptance.
@Ramaa - not sure if it makes a difference in the process - but just to clarify did you get the mail ( with css profile fee waiver code) after you submitted the Css profile or before submission?
@liteneasy I also got the mail but this was after submitting the CSS profile.
@grandscheme Oh dang that’s even crazier; I didn’t know Stanford admitted people early RD. Thanks for clarifying!
Oh that makes sense…thanks @ultraemil
hello everyone! I’ve applied to Stanford and done my interview. I have just been offered an internship position at a very prestigious organization for a month in the Summer and I am also currently applying for a couple sustainability short programs that will take place over the summer. Should I submit an update to my application to Stanford with this information? Do you think it would help improve my chances of getting in (I have good grades and lots of extra-curriculars already listed and discussed in my application)?
I think you have good news, but no, I doubt the necessity of sending them over to your application. It’s good that you have future arrangements, but since you haven’t started them yet, there really isn’t much accomplishment to talk about. In addition, an admission counselor may not value such predictions - things that just haven’t happened yet.
However, if your point is that you have good plans for your future and you are organized, go ahead and send it. But the fact you are still applying for a program, I think, will only earn you a “good luck” from the admission office rather than a more impressed committee.
General question – Do you guys think Stanford is really going to release decisions on April 1st, since it’s not only a weekend, but also Easter? The website says April 1st is the decision release for RD, not “by April 1st,” since the exact date of December 8th is given for REA. I’m still not convinced the “April 1st” promises for any school will actually be April 1st. Thoughts?
It’s likely to be on March 30.
It will be March 30th at the latest.
Does anyone know if the ‘likely letters’ are sent in waves? Anyone from the California region got the likely letter yet?
@HeartOfTheCards I don’t mean to pry, but you mind saying what your stats/activities/etc. were? Anything would be exceedingly helpful; I’m applying next year.
@me2hide they are. there was a wave last week and the week before. there may be more to come.
@MaybeHarvard2022 oh, do you know who’s gotten them so far? And how many does Stanford do? For non-atheletes.
@InternAtTheNSA i know a few ppl who have. I’d assume maybe around 200-300 max
I imagine only about 100 would be given for non-athletic reasons.
@Ganymede22 pm me
We have a friend who was admitted under an athletic commitment. She’s a good student-comfortable As-not a rocket scientist or finding a cure for cancer or anything-but the hook definitely opens the door. If you have a hook-first generation college student, athlete, legacy, under represented minority-those could be door openers.
