if it makes you feel better @jbar30, i wrote my meaningful essay about how every night at 11:11 i make a wish because it gives me something to believe in
i feel like they are gonna take one look at my essay and go “she didn’t take this seriously” haha
@LondonVall ok cool thanks for the input! Just needed to put my mind at ease a bit. @clvmsy Interesting topic and I’m sure you are a great writer who incorporated that well. Good luck for your admissions!!
now that decisions are coming soon, i was just thinking about stanford’s testing policy. i got a relatively high sat score but a low act score. i sent both in bc i wanted to be honest in my application (even though i knew the act score would probably hurt me). do you guys think they’ll place more importance on my higher sat score or place a lot of importance on both my sat & act score? ik we can only speculate at this point, but any input/opinion is appreciated
They will see both scores, but only consider your highest one. @stargirll
@clvmsy holy… I wrote the same
@lovespink, agree that Easter and April Fools Day seem unlikely days to release admission decisions. Thursday, March 29 seems like a better day to release those decisions. To add to those holidays, I believe 4pm (PST) on March 30 would be smack in the middle of Passover on the East Coast.
I really believe they’ll do Friday so that we can’t bug the admissions office, as it’s closed over the weekend–but that’s just me.
Friday at 2pm would possibly be preferable to 4pm (PST) for some on the East Coast. Can’t please everyone though.
@Lemonade22 THAT IS SO CRAZY!!! That’s awesome
has anyone else like… not gotten an email from stanford since they applied? or is it jus me lmao
lol apart from the portal I haven’t either @cutiepie679
yeah honestly regretting some of the things I wrote in my application. for what matters to you and why I wrote about the Oxford comma and for the roommate essay I referenced midnight in Paris (a woody Allen movie) and compared myself to the main character, Gil, and I also said that the historical event I wish I’d witnessed was Woodstock, which is the truth because I love '60s music, but maybe they’ll think I’m a druggie? ahhh idk I took a lot of risks here
I wrote about garden-path sentences in my what matters to you essay! Yay for grammar and syntax. I also like your Woodstock answer – I mentioned an old teacher of mine in my extra hour short question, and the very first thing I overheard about her as a freshman was that she went to Woodstock as a teen and would always talk about it to her classes. Didn’t mention that in my application, but still true! @ilovebooks123
Wouldn’t it be nicer if they just released this Friday… But, most likely 3/30.
@ilovebooks123 wow I put Woodstock too haha
I put the first meeting of Cortez and Montezuma
I put Roe vs. wade for a time I’d go back to
i put the great emu war, which i kinda regret now
I put the Seneca Falls Convention
