I wrote on the first ever successful rebellion in the world led by enslaved peoples in Haiti with the leader being Toussaint L’Ouverture
All the Ivies have April 1st as their release day on the “application timeline” on their websites just like Stanford does, but they will be releasing March 28th 7pm. I think Stanford is also probably a bit earlier than stated too.
@brentley technically wasn’t the first
For the historical event essay, I put opening of Ellis Island
I was a bit morbid in my historical event supplement and said I wanted to experience Catherine DeMedici’s thoughts as she caused St. Bartholomew’s Day Massacre.
DD received notice from an Ivy today that decisions will be released March 28.
On Stanford’s admitted student page the login says that credentials and authentication processes will be changed on March 30th, which is likely the day RD decisions will be released.
I saw that too @MaybeHarvard2022
@dowzerw Which Ivy was this?
@creampuff72 lmao i put great emu war too welp
@bnbebe2000 probably Dartmouth – I recd it today as well
I put the lewis and clark expedition for historical reference- also regretting a lot of stuff I put in my application (is this normal nerves??)… wrote about not wearing shoes outside for what’s important, the roommate letter was a survival guide on how to survive me, and the intellectual one on sustainability… I feel like they make me sound really pretentious now that I read them again but my counselor and an applicant reviewer at a really good school (family friend who read my essays for feedback) said my essays were quite well thought out and really good… sooo I guess we’ll see if my applicant reviewer thought I was a jerk or inquisitive…lol welp
how bad do you guys think writing a poem for the “what matters to you supplement” is? because i’m totally regretting it lol. i’m hoping my admissions officer took pity on me and tried to get me in haha
@bnbebe2000 Yes, it was Dartmouth
@stargirll Do you go to a BS in CT?
@stargirll @Harpguy2022 I suspect your apps were more interesting than you think. Hang in there and try to not spend the next ten days making yourselves crazy.
not at all! i go to a public high school in LA County lol! @dowzerw thanks for the reassurance by the way
@stargirll There is a stargirl on CC who has been a great contributor and is considered fondly by many.
I think your poem idea was probably a cool standout!
How serendipitous is it that my son put the crucifixtion of Jesus Christ (Good Friday) as his historical event and now that is quite possibly acceptance day! :-S
Truthfully, while the Stanford application was very fun to fill out, I feel like the nature of the questions caused a lot of applicants to simply put the most unique or interesting answer instead of one that was truly meaningful to them. The first meeting of Cortes and Montezuma was an incredibly important moment in world history, but I honestly could have found something that meant more to me personally and told more about what I value
