Always good to hear there's hope until the end. OF course I'm sure a few candidates, including myself, have the problem of a May 1st deadline to make a decision by, which gives us approximately 37 days left in the process before we have to sign on a dotted line.

For me I'm split between USMA and USNA, already accepted to WP, not USNA yet; but would like to have both appts in hand in order to make a fair decision and not feel that I was 'forced' (I say that very lightly, I'm crazy about both of them) into one or the other.

Normal colleges aren't so bad, since all you might loose is a deposit, but I believe once you confirm a service academy appt it puts you out of the running for all the other service academies.

A family friend who is now a firstie at Navy got in in a rather unconventional way. After being told he would most likely not be accepted, he drove from charlotte to annapolis every weekend for several weeks and sat in tha admissions office, talking to whomever came in. Admissions eventually told the Supe about him and what he had been doing. He asked to see his file. His grades weren't very good, but he barely met the minimal standards. The Supe had him admitted, saying that his perseverence and commitment to a goal were exactly what they wanted in a candidate.

I assume that the April 15th "deadline" that USNA refers to on thier Admissions page includes rejection notices also?

Still waiting on the assumption that a phone call from the MOC will be good news, but that a thin letter from an USNA address (without the prementioned MOC call ahead of time) is probably bad?

I just thought I'd give everyone out there who is still waiting some hope. One of my buddies came back on saturday from his overnight visit and while he was there, he talked to admissions and they said they still haven't given out 30% of the appointments. Again, that was only a few days ago. You all still have a very good chance at recieving an appointment. Hang in there! I'm still waiting to hear back from West Point.

Hey everyone - we're still patiently waiting too. It's been almost two months since our CVW, 8 mos. since BGO interview, 3Q'd for 4 mos. and two nominations! Not to mention being in the "planning stage" as far as course selection in school (you know- AP calc while everyone else takes ceramics and missing fun school-sponsored trips so you can take the ACT just one more time), extracurriculars, NASS, etc. for the past three years. I hope everyone who already knows where they will be this coming June 27 appreciates what they are NOT going through right now. I just keep telling my son "Trials don't build character, they reveal it", but I'll tell you what - at least all of us still waiting can say we're battle-tested! GOOD LUCK TO ALL!
