Successful AP Rescore Stories?

Anyone have any results from 2010 rescore requests? I submitted a recore for my daughter’s 2 in AP world History. She thought she did okay on DBQ, great on other two essays, and then well on multiple choice. Seems like a 3 or 4 to me. Anxiously awaiting rescore results…

Still waiting here too.

We just got the re-scoring results for my son’s AP Calculus BC exam 2010. He got 3 in BC and 3 in AB sections. We requested the re-scoring of multiple choice and free response section since he was confident he couldn’t get 3. All the practice AP exams he took, he got 5 and the real exam was the same level of complexity. The free response section arrived yesterday but no marks or notes from College Board as they said. Today the FedEx package letter came and it said that “the incorrect exam sections were matched in our system, and an incorrect score was reported when AP Exam scores were first released.” They said they corrected the mistake, matched his multiple-choice answer sheet to his free-response score, and his updated score on the AP Calculus BC Exam is a 5. The AB section is a 5 too. It is a relief :).
Honestly, I didn’t believe it happens. And they sent us the re-scored results in 3 weeks after we requested, not 6-8 weeks.

So good luck to everyone who is waiting the re-score.

wait 3 weeks? I’m from NJ and just sent in the request to have my AP Chem rescored, where are you from? I ask because you have to send the rescore requests to NJ so I’m wondering if since your from the tri-state area or something you got yours early.

We are from California. We requested the rescore on 07/08.We sent fax to them with the student & credit card info asking for the re-score, and then I sent an email next day asking if they had received our fax. They answered and asked to send the information by email as well since they have a lot of requests. So I did. Two days later they confirmed they got the request so we started to count days. May be that helped or may be in our case they just coudln’t match his free response with his multiple choice sheet. His original score 3 was based only on one section. When they found all his sections they didn’t do the manual re-scoring and just added 2 scores. yes, we got the results much earlier, 07/27.

yeah I got my AP scores around 7/20ish and I got 5s on AP Lang. + Comp and APUSH but I was extremely surprised when I recieved a 3 on my AP Chem. I had recieved straight A+s in my AP Chem class, had won several advanced chemistry competitions in my county and on top of it all want to pursue a major in chemical engineering. The 3 was really disheartening as I thought I had a 5 after I took the test. Hopefully they forgot to add the FRQ and MC or something as I really would like to get out of entry level chem classes in college so I can start engineering classes earlier.

You should try to make AP to re-score. It sounds very similar to my son’s situation and as you see AP can mess things. Good luck!!!

has any1 ever had a 4 rescored to a 5?

^^nvm, its irrelevant since i get the same credit for a 4/5 everywhere.

olyavg: I’m in the exact same situation as your son so your story gives me hope  Hopefully I can get the results back before I start picking my classes.

I received a 2 on my AP World History test…
I had been hoping for a 4 but I didn’t expect that I’d get lower than a 3. I sent a rescore request to CollegeBoard last week (I also requested my free response booklet), and I hope my score gets changed. I’ll let you guys know if the rescore turns out to be successful or not.

Do you think it is possible to call them to make sure that they included both tests (MC+FRQ) in my score?

They will not tell you by phone. I called College Board right away we got the score 3. After 1 hour waiting on-hold, my call was taken and I told them that the result we got is not possible and they probably didn’t include one of the sections. (My son had this theory right away he saw the result since he said the only way for him to get 3 is don’t include either the FRQ or MC. Another reason to get 3 is mis-bubbling, and it was almost excluded since he has taken several AP exams & SAT, so he pays attention to this things and always checks). Anyway, the representative said that the only way is to request the re-score manually and FRQ booklet. He said exactly the same is written on their web site. They are not going to check their data base by phone call only.

How long did it take for CB to cash your checks because I sent mine on 7/22 and it still hasn’t been reflected in my bank account. Shoud I email them to check?

@Jaycee4141, I mailed CollegeBoard my checks on 7/19 and neither my free-response booklet request check nor my rescore request check have been cashed. I’d say give it a bit more time (probably another week).

Request faxed the 16th and C/C charged the 24th, but nothing in the mail yet.

If an AP test-taker were very bad with the bubbling on their answer sheet, I could understand having to pay for the rescore, but why should you have to pay for the CollegeBoard’s mistakes? That makes no sense at all! If you request a rescore and your score changes because they made a mistake the first time it should be free!

Got the standard rescore letter:

“As you requested, the multiple-choice section of you 2010 AP Biology Exam has been rescored and processed. It has been determined that your original AP Exam score, as previously reported, is accurate.”

This is followed by 3 paragraphs explaining how that process takes place and the final paragraph informing us that for $7 you can order a free-response booklet. (I sent in the money for this along with the rescore!)

Not at all satisfied by this response. Any ideas, or do I just retake in May?

What was your original score? The MC score may well have been correct but it seems like a number of MC scores do not get matched correctly with the Free Response scores resulting in an AP score that is based one 1/2 of the test. My Daughter scored a 2 in US History, despite high A’s, an 800 SAT II score, 5s on all practice tests. She is sure there is “no way” she could have scored a 2, she felt very confident after the test. She scored a 4 in AP Statistics, and thought that was much more challenging that US History. She struggled with AP Statistics all year although she raised her 1st semester B+ final to a second semester A final. She was pleased with the 4.

We have requested a Rescore of the MC and a copy of the Free Response. She may have “misbubbled”- we hope not, she just needs some closure, a reason for the 2, she is devastated.

Even though your MC may have been scored correctly, make sure they added your Free Response score.

Good Luck.

Original score was 1
Expected a 4
All the practice tests I took pointed to a high score. Found the MC very easy - checked answers. Don’t think there was “misbubbling”.

Still waiting for the Free Response Booklet. I requested at the same time as the rescore.
Doesn’t seem like there is much I can do now.
Thanks for responding.
