@sunsheine These options don’t look too attractive. Companies want at least a few years work experience before an MBA so that puts option 1 to rest. Online courses do not compare to live classroom classes and the stimulation one gets interacting with other students and the professor. So option 2 is out to rest. If he is in preprofessional organizations but not in SOM he will be a second class citizen. He does not deserve that. So option 3 is a no go as well. FWIW my high stat son (31 ACT and 96 gpa with half honors and 5 APs senior year was deferred from SOM two years ago and was admitted in a march. But by then his heart and mind was with Ohio State Fisher college of business. He is thwre now and hasn’t regretted his decision for a moment. Fisher has many more areas than SOM to major in and that school has a lot more resoircws than Bing. Bing SOM resources are heavily devoted to Accounting so unless Accounting is your students interest, i’d move on. And probably would anyway based on the options they have given you.
Thank you @trackmbe3 I drew similar conclusions, but wanted some objective opinions.
Fisher is one of our options too!
Is anyone still waiting to hear from CCPA?
anyone else waiting for Decker
My friend heard back tonight at 7:15. He got into Engineering program. I got accepted like a month ago. Good luck to you guys!
My son was accepted tonight into the Watson School of Engineering. Finally, the long wait is over.
Just got accepted into Decker. Good luck to all that are still waiting.
DS got accepted into Watson!! SAT 1410, UW GPA 3.7. Solid ECs with years of commitment.
Good luck to all waiting! I feel you. We’ve been waiting for a long time…
Did you get an invite to the Binghamton PWC Scholars program?
@love3kids What were your stats and when did you apply?
I got deferred. Not my top school, but thought I would get in. 1350 SAT, NY resident, tons of ECs. 5.8 unweighted GPA, my school follows an IB system, top nyc private school. Roughly translates to 3.75. Applied to the business school
@margarett I am sure with stats like your son’s he’ll have other great opportunities. At the end of the day, he should be in a school where his talents, intelligence and hard work will be recognized and appreciated. This whole process with Bing has been quite frustrating for so many of us. This minor setback won’t hold your son back, because a person like him will surely achieve success.
I got accepted Dec 6th to SOM with 1410 SAT, 31 ACT, and 98 GPA. Although Bing is more attentive to the Accounting section of SOM, I’m doing Business Administration there because I think Bing is reputable and affordable. Baruch is probably the better option if someone is solely focused on finding intenrship opportunities, but I feel like I wouldn’t be happy doing the Macaulay Honors Program. I love the city, but the city schools seem to emphasize things I don’t really care about (examples being cultural activities and events). I was debating between the CUNYs and Bing, the price being the main factor. Although CUNY is cheaper, I don’t think I’d be successful if right off the bat, I’m not that happy or motivated attending the school. Therefore, despite Bing not having the best business school in all of NY, I’m choosing it because I’ll feel more motivated, it’s a SUNY (cheaper than private schools), and is still a good school overall.
@williamnyc- congrats!
If we get deferred from Binghamton, should I send in additional test scores and rec? The online status just says that “No additional information is required”
@weaselxddd I don’t recommend sending in additional test scores if it explicitly says “No additional information is required.” I get how tempting that would be (I’d feel the same way in your shoes), but I think it’s more important to follow their directions.
@WilliamNYC - I am so happy for your son! You have been waiting for this day!
@WilliamNYC Is Bing your son’s first choice?
@WilliamNYC so happy for you i know you have been waiting… !!
@margarett other people who were asked to change their school got subsequently accepted the very next day… You might want to consider taking the offer?
