college - we all have been going crazy! haha, but it should all be gone in a few days! hopefully

I am guessing those closest to phili will get mail first. Nothing for me yet

so they were mailed? i asked them today by phone and all she said was “theyll be mailed by the 15th.” and kaithags, what??

tieeris - my older sister just called…she’s trying her hardest to get them to tell her if I got in or not…and although she was unsuccessful on that front, they did tell her that they were mailed on Wednesday…

my hope/guess is that I should get mine tomorrow…hopefully, but now part of me DOESN’T want to get that letter.

mailed Wednesday? that means today or tomorrow for me. but, I didn’t get any mail today.

KaitHags, what?

oh my god im so nervous. part of me doesnt wanna get it either… two of my friends are getting their decisions today from Penn and Wellesley, and they were so freaked out… AHHH

I just callled they were sent Wednesday. I’m hoping for mine to come in the mail tomorrow. I’ve got my fingers crossed. Good luck to everyone.

And Kaithags what happened?

oh yea…good luck everyone!

well that’s odd cuz they told me they sent the letters out. do you think they could have sent some letters but not others?

i. am.so.nervous. good luck everyone. we all know we’ve worked hard for this moment; i think we all more than deserve to be at swarthmore next year.even if some of us dont make it, its not the end of the world, right? we tried our best, and our hard work will all be worth it in the end. ill be praying for all of us! fingers crossed!

when my sister called, they said that they mailed them on the Wednesday.

so some that live closer have already gotten there letters.

This is making me crazy! the decision could be at my post office a few miles from my house right now and didn’t arrive in time to be sorted in the morning! Now I know I will get it tomorrow. This is going to be a long night…

today’s plan: read, eat, sleep.

im gonna soothe my mind.

Mailed Wednesday? That means I may well be opening mail tomorrow… Horribly nervous.

And I third the motion: Kaithags, what?!

On a separate note, I began jumping for joy today when I returned home to a rather thick envelope on the table. Little did I know, the envelope was from University of Pennsylvania. (And no, it wasn’t an acceptance letter… :-/ )

Swat2014,

same with me. I don’t even like UPenn so it was even more disappointing

why are you talking about bates here?..lol

i got my letter.
i was flat out rejected.

Hi All.

I’m a long-ago user (and yes, I’m using a new profile) who thought that it might be good to offer some guidance to incoming/interested students.

For those of you who made it (or are about to find out), we should have an “official” facebook group figured out right away (I don’t know why it has members going back a while, because unless your great grandfather is Eugene Lang (that’s an inside Swarthmore joke there) no one can be certain.

For those who did not get in, either through deferral or rejection, I am sincerely sorry. I know how it feels. But trust me when I say that there are many wonderful colleges out there waiting for you. Take the next couple of days and don’t think about college at all. Doing something for yourself, and then refocus and figure out where to go next.

A note to deferred students. While it certainly is not the same as rejection, and a number (I don’t know how many) of those students end up at Swarthmore each year, you need mentally to put Swarthmore to the side for the time being and begin to look elsewhere for the feelings that you had in ED. If you do get in, that is wonderful, but is very possible that you won’t, and it is Vital that you do not approach the next steps in the process with pessimism. If you want to try and improve your application somehow, and you think it would be significant, than by all means go ahead. But do not do so at the detriment to your other options, because it is not an all or nothing future on the horizon. Of course, I don’t mean to discourage anyone from staying interested in all that Swarthmore has to offer, but use the deferral process to mentally prepare yourself for the bad contingency. If the good one occurs, than no harm done.

KaitHags, i’m so sorry, that’s really tough. but i’m sure you’ll get in somewhere else and have wonderful experiences!

someone might have to give me this talk tomorrow after the mail comes…

and regardless of whether or not i get in, to those who have gotten in, i read online that there are a lot of fake facebook class of 2014 groups, swarthmore being one of them. so you should DEFINITELY create an official group. here’s the article that says that the group is fake (i don’t think it will let me post links so i’m going to write it sort of funky):

good luck to everyone, and again KaitHags, i’m so sorry!

kaithags - I am so sorry.

I am now very, very nervous about tomorrow or whenever the letter decides to show up at my house.
