did anyone else get the letter today

collegeearly- That’s not a bad point. I’m trying to get in contact with the group creator, and I’ve already contact a real student in the group to get his take, and I will go from there. Of course, once we have more of a confirmed class and the group is off and running, the class of 2014 can take it from there.

I might have someone else create a group if one needs to be created, just for the sake of anonymity, but then again, I don’t really plan on doing anything that would require that.

Part of me is already regretting getting back on CollegeConfidential once again, but I’m coming at it from the perspective like a student would to a visitor on campus, or to someone who was admitted and is coming in the fall. I’m going to pledge to myself, in the sake of sanity, NOT to even look at any admissions stuff or partake in any of the obsessiveness that occurs (of course, I understand why everyone does it, I just don’t want to go through that again). If there is an admitted student from the South who wants to know what a real coat is and why they need one, I’m happy to help, but if they are curious as to what their application looks like coming from rural Alabama, my eyes are going to glaze over right away. I’m sure you all understand, and you’ll answer each other’s questions with probably far more detail than you need.

I am sorry to hear that you did not get in. Where do you live that your letter came today and it seems as though no one else has gotten one?

I live in south jersey/ greater Philadelphia area

I hope you all receive better news. It is a horrible feeling to rush to the mailbox, rip the envelope open, and see the words “I regret to inform you…”

KaitHags - I’m so sorry to hear that. It’s been really disheartening to hear about all the students who haven’t gotten in this year, at Swat and elsewhere. I don’t really know what to say that could possibly make you feel any better; I can only wish you the best of luck in the rest of the process.

My own letter has not come yet and is probably at least a day away, an unfortunate consequence of living on the west coast. We did, however, receive a letter from the financial aid office requesting more information. I can only hope that this is a good sign…would they start financial aid review before they made an admissions decision?

Anyways…keep the news coming and best of luck to all!

Kait - I’m so sorry. That’s a real downer, but I’m quite sure that you’ll recover well and find a school that makes you happy. Remember, Barack Obama got rejected, too; perhaps I can call you Mrs. President someday! (Even if you’re a Republican, my imagination still likes you enough to allot you a seat in the Senate.)

Meanwhile, I’ve readopted my policy of bracing for the worst. It would make everything easier should I meet a similar fate…

does anybody know how Swarthmore would notify international students the results?

I’m afraid I don’t; sorry. :-/

I imagine they’d keep to the same Dec. 15 deadline as they would for everyone else, though–they probably sent your letter a couple weeks ago.

KaitHags,

I am very sorry to hear that you didn’t get in. Please take this coming from someone who is expecting unfortunate news tomorrow. Good luck with the rest of the admissions process, just as I will most likely need tomorrow.

SprioSpero,

The financial aid office has been a little mysterious when it comes to getting more information, etc. We were supposed to know on Wednesday (the day letters went out) if we needed to submit anymore information (long story). Anyways, we were in contac ton Tuesday, then didn;t hear back until Thrusday, when they asked us to send very specific information for an aid package. Could this mean anything? I have no idea. I would certainly like to think so…

It is said that they would notify international students via emails…I think emails should be faster than letters, but I didnt receive mine yet…

When will they send the e-mails!!! I’ve been waiting for it for last two days…
i’m now a little bit relieved… maybe they haven’t sent e-mails yet…

I dont know. But one of my friends got email from Cornell and another one got email from Colombia yesterday…the same day when the letters came out…so I suppose emails were sent out on Wednesday when they sent letters…or they will just send it on the exact 15th.

one who was accepted by early decision on 2007 said that she got the e-mail on 11th…

thanks guys! seriously best of luck!
and Swat- dont worry i’m a democrat hah

Thank goodness, Mrs. President. KaitHags 2032!

Well…the only thing we can do is to wait…(I refresh my email box every minute…It kills me…)
For those who are accepted, congratulations~ You are the inspiration for the rest of us.
For those who are deferred/rejected, keep your chins up, you know you have better place to go.
For those who are still waiting, hope you all get accepted~We need good news~

Sorry KaitHags. I’ll be supporting you in 2032!

Sorry to hear that Kaithags, but don’t let it get you down! I’m sure you’ll end up at a great school!

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted! I’m definitely expecting my letter tomorrow.

i am so nervous now…I am definitely thinking that I didn’t get.

so, tomorrow there will be no running to mailbox…and even if it is there, I have to wait for my mom to get home to open it!

I’m not really expecting to get in. So, I would rather be pleasantly surprised than devastated I’m going to walk to my mail box with no expectations. Except the high chance that I will be rejected.
