I happen to be one of the 4 people going to the states and the other 3 are frantically preparing for the boards like the rest of the herd so I figured that I’d study for them as well… So no senioritis for me.

I agree about CC being one of the most amazing resources on the web. I don’t think I would have been able to apply otherwise! Apart from college admissions goop, I also made friends with amazing people here!
uhh, I hope not!
Sorry Tippu, I no unnerstan’. Pliz youse elaborate. Ve is all yeas. :p

Aruneom- Nice to see you here! Drowning in coursework? You definitely have better self control than me. Apart from not tripping on my sari, I must not keep sneaking back to CC too.

Tippu, I quite regret choosing that question. I was considering the Model one too! In the end, it came down to No.5 (The methodologies and content one) and No.8. My teacher suggested I do the Picasso one. I thought it was the surprisingly limited for a TOK essay. It is an interesting one though, especially since I’d come across that quote before. My essay sounds so horribly vague though. There are so many things I could say about Art and Truth. I bet my teacher’s going to tell me to rewrite my whole draft
Yea…no. I’m really not that great at TOK or anything really. Honestly, if you saw some of the people in my school…they are almost superhuman.

I don’t have a specific theme in my photography. January has mostly been objects. I don’t like taking pictures of myself, so it’s other people and things. Really random. Hopefully they’ll take a more definite form this month.

Compsci, congrats!! I hope there are many more to come :)

One of my friends got into Vassar ED!!! So happy for her! :D

I love all the good news. Keeps me distracted from my own results. Ish (Yea not really. My fists will unclench only on April 1st).

Anjali-It does complicate things quite a bit. That’s a funny situation you’re in (No judgment, I’ve experienced something similar first hand and it was annoying enough for me to fill up my application). How long have you been in your current school? I think in your situation you should get Letters of Recommendation and your Counselor report from your current school. The teachers at your new school will barely know you enough to write a substantial report. You’ll have to write the Educational Interruption document too on the Common App. Out of interest, why are you moving in your final year, if you don’t mind me asking?

arunemo- Thanks. I’m moving because my father has to move for his job. We are shifting to dehli so i will go to an international or other school (modern?). Will it be hard to apply or should I try to stay in the same school for the final year (i can but it will be hard).

Anjali: Ideally, you should try and stay in the same school, especially if you’ve been in that school for a while and the teachers know you well and you’ve participated in your school community a lot. It would make things a lot easier. However, I know perfectly well what it’s like to move around due to your parent’s job, so unless you’re absolutely insistent you want to go to the States and there is a relatively painless way of you staying back in whatever city you are in now, go ahead with the move. It will make the application process a bit more long winded, but colleges will understand your circumstances.
But is anyone ever allowed to switch schools in 12th grade? Isn’t it near impossible to do so in the CBSE/ICSE? (All the board people here, please correct me).

Hey i just got this mail from the UC Berkley asking me to apply for the merit based leadership scholarship… does this mean anything( in terms of my chances of being admitted to Berkley!)?

Anjali: scores are released approximately 3 weeks after the SAT date. If you took it on the 22nd of jan, scores should be released on the 10th of feb at 5AM EST so, I suppose at 3:30 PM in india ?

Tippu, your computer programming culture is impressive (as is your general culture apparently)! I had never heard of Xcode before I embarked in a programming project on this platform.
To tell you the truth it took me really a long time to think the way an object oriented programming language wants you to think. I was so used to type quick and dirty lines on my calculator that it made the switch difficult. Fortunately, there are thousands of ready made code lines available on the internet on every topic you may think of to build upon.
