@anirudha… wow, u’ve got some marvelous ECs there!
u know what? ur SATs arent that bad! i mean, ur recos and ECs and essays might cover them up well
did u apply into top-tier colleges as well? which ones?
PS you study in apeejay right?

PS F.Y.I UCLAs got more applicants than harvard!
it is as competitive as the latter.

@rew - I haven’t applied to many low tier school…

HYPS, Amherst, Williams, Penn, Dartmouth…

No I do not study at Apeejay.

By the way are you free would you like to look at my essays.

It’s a little ironic that a ‘tech’ college doesn’t have the server capacity to efficiently handle an upsurge in traffic. I’ve been trying to load the page for the past ten minutes.

@rew2402 are you from Apeejay?

Accepted :)

@ascaris - congratulations

@ascaris share the same views. Congratulations to you.

P.S. - Accepted.

@ascaris the decision was out at 1:30 for me… :D

If I were any more Indian, I’d be a walking Engineer. Oh look, I’m one step closer. Georgia Tech Class of 2016.

Congratulations to all…

Angaduday, what was your decision, if you don’t mind me asking? :)

I posted it in the last page after taking the pain to look up the color code for green :D

Congrats to all you guys who were accepted in GA Tech!!!

Congratulations on Georgia Tech!

Anyone get into Caltech?

Denied admission to Caltech, texaspg. The only reason that I can think of is my lack of demonstrated passion towards maths or science. If you would’ve seen my Caltech supplement … all the maths-science ECs were blank and also the research area was blank.

Correct me if I’m wrong here MysticGohan, but Caltech prefers students who actively demonstrate a passion for Maths or Sciences? Anyways, I haven’t adopted a ‘who cares about them if they didn’t accept me’ attitude. I still like Caltech very much as a school.

Congratulations to angaduday, ascaris, raptor, and tizil!!! Enjoy this moment of ecstasy! :)

Unlike most other applicants I have submitted 4 essays to each of my colleges. My essays topics are as follows :-

Essay 1 - How a personal problem forced me to wander in the streets where I observe the plight of the put and hopeless.

Essay 2 - A memorable trip to my native village where I discover my roots. ( Descendant of the first constitutional monarch of Bengal )

Essay 3 - My obsession with Adolf Hitler when I was child but how I grew up to understand that he was the epitome of evil.

Essay 4 - Capitalism a boon or a curse for an overpopulated nation like India.

So what will be the most probable effect of these additional essays on my application - Will they overcome my poor scores or will they have a detrimental effect ?

@Anirudha: How were you able to submit extra essays to all of your colleges? Most of them have their own supplements as well as word count limits in addition to the personal statement (unless these fit into the supplements).
