The University of Texas Dorms

Isn’t Piazza Navona the condo place? Or I’m getting confused with another complex?
and I’m not from NORCAL - I just tend to use some Cal slang :P

Yeah, Piazza Navona is that new condo place. It just didn’t look that great like in the pictures to me. xD I think I’ll go with it anyways.

21 Rio is pretty nice.

san jacinto is the best by farrrr

21 Rio looks nice. I went ahead with Orange tree. Pretty big 2 bed/2 bath with two stories and water paid. Right next to Jefferson 26 and all those Greek Houses lol.

How many private/connecting bathrooms are there in Jester? I applied for housing in early March, and my roommate applied somewhere between January/February… is it likely that we’ll end up stuck with communal?

Most likely- Communal is NOT bad at all. Just wait till you have the experience of cleaning an individual bathroom by yourself.

I used the communal bathrooms during orientation, and they were awful… especially the showers. I’m used to cleaning my own bathroom, so I really don’t mind that aspect of it.

Really hoping for connected, at the very least, but I’ll try to avoid getting my hopes up.

What was wrong with the communal bathrooms? I stayed there too on the sixth floor and there was nothing wrong with the showers… just a simple showerhead and curtains, what more could you need?

Maybe it was just my floor (8), but the water pressure was really low… and for some reason, the hot water would never work. The space wouldn’t be an issue for just washing my hair, but it’s hard to shave when there’s not much room to move around.

Just a matter of preference. I’m sure I could survive with communal showers, but private would be preferable.

If I lived in Jester - I’d rather take a shower at the gym late at night. The showers in the women’s locker room were empty, the water was hot, and they looked relatively clean. Good 'nuff for me!

I never thought girls could be so nasty, but I guess everything has its downside. During orientation there was only one period with hot water. And then after the first days use there was hair all over the showers and even blood. D:

I would pray for a smaller dorm or a connecting/private.

Thanks for the tip. I actually didn’t get around to checking out the gym during orientation, but maybe I’ll give that a shot if all else fails. You know, despite the totally tempting offer of waking up in the morning to bloody hair-filled showers. :P

(The bathrooms in the PCL are also really nice compared to Jester’s! I almost wish I could live there instead.)

I actually stayed in one of the remodeled rooms for Jester (4073 or something like that) during orientation. The one I stayed in with my roommate was incredibly spacious and had an adjoining bath. But the remodeled room I saw in the 6th floor was nothing like mine.

I guess it’s a crapshoot for those nicer Jester dorms.

I still haven’t recieved my housing contract and I submitted my housing app. in early January (I’m a transfer student). I’m starting to lose hope lol.

@Nick582 – I stayed on the 6th floor, and our rooms were a lot better than those on the 9th floor. I really hope I get one of the remodeled floors. To my knowledge, they have better beds (adjustable height and not pull-out), wooden floors, brighter hallway lights, and more spacious showers (with mini changing rooms).

longhorn101 - You most likely won’t get a real contract, only supplemental come August. I would look at other housing options now before it’s too late.

Yea Xcellerator, housing emailed me today and offered supplemental housing :stuck_out_tongue: So now I pretty much need to decide between Castilian and Dobie for housing :stuck_out_tongue: I can’t tell which one is better or worse lol

when do we get housing stuff/roommate stuff finalized?

As far as I know it’s been finalized since July 1st – I’m a freshman.

After you get your housing assignment you can get on a waitlist to change roommates and/or (not sure) your room.

That’s how it is for me right now since I have summer housing.

New question:

Are the beds in Roberts set really high like I’ve seen in Jester? And if they are - how do I move it down??
