Roberts beds are not high, they are regular bunkable beds that sit at an average height. They are not lofted nor can they be lofted. This is true of Brackenridge, Roberts, and Prather.

Thanks Why Two Kay!

Has anyone been notified of their dorm assignments yet? I haven’t gotten any word from UT yet.

that probably wont happen for another week, nick

So, today’s the day the assignments are supposed to start coming out. Has anyone gotten theirs yet? :)

They are coming soon! Either th 16th or the 19th if everything goes as planned.

hi
i just got my room assignment for the fall of 2010
can anyone tell me the difference between jester east and jester west??
i heard one of them was recently renovated…which one???

I got Blanton. :(

If it doesn’t say anything about a roommate, does that mean I got a single?

^ It says if you got a double or single on your My Housing page, at least it did for me. You have to click on View Roommate(s) to view them.

I got third floor Jester West. :)

I’m so glad my roommate applied earlier, or else I would’ve ended up on the 11th floor or something.

i got andrews!!!
is that the nicest honors dorm?

I don’t see anything new or different on the My Housing page. I’m in supplemental housing, so will my assignment come out later?

Anyone know what the difference is between the “renovated” and regular rooms in Jester?

i got blanton too! and hrm i’m kind of concerned… i looked at the floor plan and virtual tour thing on the UT website and blanton’s dimensions are even smaller than Jester’s!!! is blanton the smallest dorm on campus? ugh, i’m seriously considering putting myself on the waitlist for Jester, i want to die (well okay, not literally but still )

The honors quad are the oldest dorms on campus, remember that. They’re not really good for anything unless you are a Comm major since the Comm school is right there. It’s horrible if you’re in McCombs since all the other dorms (Jester, San Jac, etc) are really close to the business school (same street corner) while the honors dorms + Duren are really far away.

i know all that, which is why i’m being so dramatic XD if i tried to get into Jester now (it’s probably pointless to try to get into any of the other dorms at this point, right?) is there any smidgeon of a chance that i could get a room that wasn’t like on the 13th floor or something?

There are people in supplemental housing, so there are no regular rooms available, and there won’t be for a long time into the semester, if at all. You can switch with a person if you can find a person willing to switch.

I actually had a friend last year move from Jester East into Blanton, about a month or so into the semester. I don’t think he swapped with somebody, the opening in Blanton just opened up. The only reason he moved was because a ton of his high school friends were in Blanton, so he wanted to go there instead of Jester.

How does that work btw? Because a good friend of mine ended up not getting a location he wanted, and we were wondering if it would be possible for him to room up with me. I know there are 2 other people that have to deal with it as well, but is it even plausible to request a specific roommate switch, or is that just totally out of the question?

Talk with the department of housing. I don’t know any specifics though. I had another friend who had an insane roommate (like, really) and he managed to get his roommate moved to another dorm. So they do listen to requests.
