Don’t be sad. My daughter was in Blanton and she LOVED it. She made such good friends there too. My son is in Duren and a friend of his just got into Blanton too. You will love it. They redid the dorm and it looks way better than seven years ago. What honors program are you in?

My son loved Blanton last year. It was very convenient to his Plan II classes. They were just steps away. There is a drive right in front of Blanton that makes it very easy to load and unload. Kinsolving is close and has good food. Littlefield Cafe is also steps away and my son loved to eat there. After 1 or 2 in the afternoon, dine-in dollars can be used.
The common areas in the honors dorms are very nice. There is a very large lobby with tables, chairs, couches and a piano. At the other end, there is a room with a big screen tv, pool tables, etc. From what I hear, most everyone in the honors dorms are very friendly. There were a number of activities for the honors quad, too.

jbs1029, i’m in LAH and thank you for the encouragement, i’m starting to feel a lot better about it. i need to quit acting so spoiled. hehe

Blanton is quite nice. I was in there today studying. I’ll be in Littlefield; also had lunch at the Patio Cafe today. Good food and prices; rude and creepy construction workers… :S But I’m sure…I hope the LTD renovations will be over come late August…

The renovated rooms in Jester have hardwood floors, movable furniture, beds that you can loft, and newer/nicer-looking appliances and amenities. Almost like a Duren/San Jac room but with a different floor and minus the private bathroom (unless you have a connecting bath)

Only a particular kind of bed can be lofted, correct? You can’t just loft any bed that isn’t built into the wall… right? (sorry for the n00b question, I have NO idea what any of the beds look like)

You can loft beds in some of the dorms, and actually it’s beds that aren’t attached to the walls.

I know San Jac and Duren allow lofting, as do Jester rooms with movable furniture (but not the majority of Jester rooms, which do not have movable furniture).

I know for a fact Brackenridge, Roberts, and Prather do not allow lofting. Most of the other dorms don’t also, but I do not know specifics.

If the beds are bunked when I get to my dorm, is it going to be a pain in the ass to get one bed down? LOL I picture that scene from stepbrothers happening. hahaha

It’s very easy. The only thing keeping the beds held together is a small metal dowel that is between the legs of the top bunk and the top of the legs on the bottom bunk.

Two very average strength men or women could simply lift the top bunk and move it off the bottom. Obviously you’ll want to take the mattresses off first, since that makes it about 10 times lighter.

And if you need help your RA and the people working the front desk at your dorm would be more than happy to assist you.

I got kinsolving, boo. I feel remorse for putting it as my options. I should have chosen jester first option to get renovated floor since I completed the housing app early! :/

@radioteque: but kinsolving is a really nice dorm. hate to be stereotypical, but since it’s all girls it’s definitely cleaner and quieter. and what if you had gotten a floor that wasn’t renovated in jester? now that would’ve sucked.

Kinsolving is SOOOOOO much better than Jester. I used to study with a girl in kinsolving just for their nice study rooms/lounges/conference rooms

thanks why two kay.

i mentioned it to my future roommate and she said the rooms in the dorm are going to be two narrow.

im still going to give it my best shot to debunk the beds!

Why Two Kay, you’re turning into a regular “lone ranger” :D

Turning, you mean she is! lol. She; assuming kay is female.
Anyway, yeah her advice saves!

Yes, where is the loneranger? He hasn’t posted

Hi, I’m 100% male.

And I’m only here in the summer. I’ll disappear completely around August 23rd.

Oh. haha

Okay!

P.S. Apologies.

so are there any remodeled rooms in jester west?
