I thought my district was the only one. Lewisville ISD is a district.

I know a guy who got the same PSAT as me sophomore year and ended up a national merit scholar with a full ride to OU.

Open University?

it would've sounded more impressive if u said fullride to washu, stern, columbia or something...

WOW this is so funny... u actually put down
"who's who in american highschool students"
as an achievement??? those are scams that ask u to buy their book... colleges are gonna laugh at you and think, "what a gullible dude"... i get those kind of stuff every year and dont bother wasting my time opening it anymore.

Yeah, it is a scam. I wouldn't recommend putting it down, they do it just to sell books :(.

As far as your stats, they look fine. Just up the SATs to at least 650+ in each category, preferably 2100+.

Try to check out some good ECs. Rice looks like a pretty big reach, but its certainly possible if you up the SAT, and do some more ECs.

If you were to establish residency for the UCs, you would need to move ** NOW. ** You need a year's residency before you apply.

i don't understand why you ask for advice, but each time someone offers any sort of guidance/criticism/advice you automatically get defensive and think up an explanation or snide evasion of their questions...just calm down and accept what other people have to say

I accept what people have to say when it is put nicely, and is constructive criticism.

When people come and bash my 1800 SAT when it is a sophomore score, I get annoyed.

Especially when people accuse me of "making up" an English course, it is annoying.

Xokandykyssesox, I said he got a full ride to Oklahoma University because that is where he got a full ride, I was giving an example of someone who had done well with my sophomore PSAT score that others bashed.

well if a fullride at Oklahoma University is your
GOAL
then fine, be my guest. it would've made a better argument if u said, "someone with my sophmore SAT score got a rullride to MIT"

btw, my friend got a 1450/1600 in 7th grade... so um... yeha... ur sophmore scores dont really say much

I never said that is fabulous, but it is a full ride.

I said a full ride to OU because that was what he got. I'm not going to lie and say he got a full ride to MIT.

Again, that is the old SAT. I took the SAT in 8th grade, 710V/770M, but that doesn't count now, it's about the new SAT.

We are supposed to be talking about my statistics, not all your fabulous friends. If you want to live vicariously through association with high achieving people, I can compete with that too but there is no point.

I got over that in elementary school, the whole "I have a friend who is better than you because..."

it seems kinda hard to believe that u got a 580 on the new math and a 770 on the old one... considering the old one supposidely also covers the "hard" part of algebra that u never took yet...
hey, math is math. u either know how to do it, or u dont know how to do it.

x - y = 5
2x + y = 4

will always equal the same x and same y regardless of what SAT it is

and once again, this seems unrealistic as xokandykyssesox said... a 770m to a 580 is pretty weird... especially when collegeboard and most colleges consider the two tests to be interchangebale

and again, the sophomore score is no excuse, i had a 1490 frosh year... and i'm pretty sure that was before i took algebra II...

not trying to put u down, but it is kind of true that those are hardly excuses

Well let's not bother talking about the SAT anymore. I realize my score wasn't exceptional; but I can bring it up, I've got a year and a half, in which I'll learn a lot more.

I plan to retake the SAT so that 1800 won't be a final statistic, therefore there is no point telling me it is sub par, because I'm going to bring it up.

I should have said that a lot earlier. It's just irrelevant to discuss it.

its just so funny to press at u cuz u get so defensive at every single comment and yet u ask for comments... i mean... did u want everyone to praise u? is that the point of this thread? so people make a few comments on your SAT... i dont see how your score can go down when generally people's scores go up... i mean, the writing maybe u can say u got a 580... but if u got a 710/770, then your other scores should be like 750/780 now that you're a sophmore. so like, your new SAT score SHOULD've been 2100+ ... but yet... its not

the verbal/math might have changed slightly, but the CONTENT didnt change THAT much for a 100-200 point drop

I don't entirely remember what I got on that SAT so far back, but it was high and I think that was it.

Anyway like I said it's irrelevant because I'm taking it senior year and that's the one that counts.

Your first statement tells me that you are bothering me for fun, not offering constructive criticism.

I did not make this thread for your humor, I made it for my benefit. I realize I'm defensive at times but it's because people are unreasonable sometimes.

If you can't handle this thread, get off it, simple as that. I think it's kind of funny how you are using internet lingo on a college forum.

ummm... how is it funny to use internet lingo on CC??? y wuld any1 want to type the whole sentence? am i writing an english essay here?

Mathwhiz? I scored higher than you on math when I was in 7th grade and had just learned what the word algebra meant. I'm just playin. Didn't you get a 1510 on the old SAT though? Stick with that.

mathwiz: don't forget to put TWO spaces after your period! after all, that's the "proper" way isnt it

hey guys, why all the bitterness?

I believe that you will do better on math SAT after finishing Algebra 2. I think you should take it again junior year as well as senior year.

I don't recommend pushing one of the senior year AP courses to junior year. IMHO, your schedule is really good already junior year, and it might be too big of a challenge to do much more in one year. However, if you want to get rid of something, someone above said something useful- if the AP Physics is C it includes calculus and I don't recommend taking that while you're taking calculus. If it's AP Physics B i highly recommend that you do take it-it is a great course. If you want to move one course to junior year, I'd probably say economics, but I've never taken that so I'm not really sure.

I think the writing the book is really cool and you should try to get it published.

Right now I think the schools are reaches but if your SATs go up to around 2000, you should have a very good shot.
