Transfer students

Hey harrylovesginny,

I’m not too sure about that. I know I can’t because I have 2 finals on May 26th, which sucks, so I know I won’t be able to send my grades to Swat…

Some schools do require it, such as Wesleyan. I had to send them a Mid-Year report way back (around April 1st).

My guess would be to send the grades in anyway, especially if they are high!

Good luck!

Don’t worry about sending them application-wise, but you’ll want to send them if you get in so you can get credit for them.

Okay, thanks so much guys!!

Wow,

You guys. Seriously. My birthday is the 15th. **** my life.

Claireishope,

Don’t fret about that. Who knows, you might have very good news awaiting you that day. :)

I think that would be one of the best birthday gifts ever! haha :D

Yeah Claire, and I feel ya, my birthday is April 2nd. I got rejected from all colleges I applied to either right before or right on my birthday!

My friend and I are both applying to Swarthmore to transfer. He got an email a couple days ago requesting a Midyear College Report, but I didn’t get one. Does anybody know what this might mean? Are there other people that did or didn’t get an email?

hey,

As of now, I did not get an email from Swarthmore about the Midyear College Report. Hope that doesn’t mean bad news!

I don’t know what it means, but I was asked to send my midyear report two weeks ago.

On a side not:
I had to make the form myself and I was pretty proud with how it looked, but I was saddened to find out that I could only fax it in black and white. One of the strongest aspects of the form was the color. (joking…kind of)

They asked me for it about a month ago. My school doesn’t do official midterm reports, so the academic office told me just to send in my midterm grades and comments.
What does this all mean?

Okay, kind of starting to worry. Just a little…

I really don’t know what this could mean. Still, I’m trying to stay pretty optimistic :)

Honestly, it was probably for border candidates, where they either wanted to make sure that performance was not waning or that performance had improved. I did not get a request for a midyear report, neither have my friends that I talked to. I don’t think it’s really an indicator one way or another.

“Honestly, it was probably for border candidates, where they either wanted to make sure that performance was not waning or that performance had improved.”

I don’t know about that…I have a 4.0GPA with 56 credits already completed in three semesters. Academically, I don’t think I’m on the ‘border’.

elvis32z,

Yes, but TheTransfer also mentioned, “…where they either wanted to make sure that performance was not waning or that performance had improved.” They probably sent you one to make sure you kept up the strong performance, since you have a 4.0 GPA with 56 credits. Also, TheTransfer stated, “I don’t think it’s really an indicator one way or another”, so you should not worry too much about it.

Side note: Wow, 4.0 GPA with all those credits completed! Congrats on that! How did you manage to keep that GPA so high?

amendez,

I agree, I don’t think it is anything significant.

Thank you for the congratulations! I managed to keep the gpa with A LOT of hard work and about two close calls where I almost lost it. Sadly, I might receive my first B+ or A- this semester. That’s going to suck.

seconded. i never received a request for a midyear report, and i never sent one, and i’m here today, so…it should be fine. honestly, they might have just chosen entirely at random those who they sent mid-year report requests. they’re so busy at this time of year. the admissions office strikes me as pretty chaotic at springtime.

I am preparing to be crushed…It’s just weird because even though I haven’t consciously been counting on or even considering a scenario in which i am accepted to swat, i haven’t been making any plans toward the other schools i got into… i refuse to until there is zero probability of me ending up at my dream school…

Me, too, Claireishope.
Terribly nervous.
I wonder why applying to college isn’t more like applying for a job?
In the real world, as long as I can prove that I can do the work and do it well, people are more than happy to give it to me. Whereas with Swat, I’m desperate for them to allow me to pay them to work at their institution. MADNESS!

sigh
I really want to study in Swat’s intellectual eden

Claireishope and Wondercatt (and to whoever else is feeling down about Swarthmore),

Don’t put yourselves down! It is okay to be nervous during these times, especially since in 3 days (potentially) we will find out if we are admitted to Swarthmore. I understand the fear of getting rejected (was rejected by Columbia just last week). Although this seems like a downer, I only look at it as a motivation to do better. And if the best doesn’t come, I try again until I can’t try anymore.
Applying to such a great school like Swarthmore only proves us to be intellectually motivated thus having what it takes to be a Swattie. Now, the Admissions team might think different, and in reality, some of us will be rejected, but I believe that everyone who has applied is very intelligent and prepared for the challenge that is Swarthmore. We all have our own unique reasons for applying but we are all drawn together by one similar goal: bettering our education through what we believe will put us one step ahead, alongside intelligent and equally motivated people, and we all believe that to be Swarthmore. No matter what, I believe we will all achieve our educational goals and go on to be very successful people. So if you are rejected, don’t let the fact that you got rejected deter you from achieving your goals. We are all better than that and no matter where we end up, I believe we will all do well.

I hope this has helped someone feel a little better :)

Take care and good luck!

Amendez,

Thank you so much for that. I, too, faced a Columbia rejection on Friday, and could not help but feel like it was foreshadowing a rejection from Swat. But you’re right, I know that no matter what we’ll all go on to achieve great things. I especially loved this: “We all have our own unique reasons for applying but we are all drawn together by one similar goal: bettering our education through what we believe will put us one step ahead, alongside intelligent and equally motivated people, and we all believe that to be Swarthmore.” Could not have said it better. Thank you  Good luck, I really hope we all do get in. We deserve it… if I do say so myself ;)
