Turing Class of 2026

No idea at this point. There could continue to be a few more decisions through the rest of February but I don’t know for sure.

Any CSB acceptances? Still waiting and running out of patience!

Nope, I’m just gonna wait till I get an email rather than continuously check every day.

I’m sure there has to be some logic to how decisions are being made and how the upcoming goto Turing event is scheduled. We aren’t losing hope but aren’t able to decipher the code, so only time will tell.

We at least got another acceptance today from a different school, so perhaps that’s a minor victory.

Is UT your son’s top choice?

It actually is, but with honors. It would be a tougher decision without Turing or CSB. How about you?

I had UT as my safety with hopes of Turing. Without Turing, off to Boston or California.

You’re fairly confident/already received admission from one of UCB, Stanford, or MIT I presume?

Same boat. S22 is in state, top 1%, 36 ACT, 1590 SAT, founder of AI club and works for a defense startup and led their object detection module for a practical application - an actual product. Admitted in CS back in December. Deans scholars got denied today and Turing pending. Losing hope at this point. Admitted at UVA and in ECHOLS honors. Awaiting regular decision from few Ivys at this point. I am sure there is logic to how decisions are made but we too are struggling to crack the code.

How did you come to know of these acceptances?

My son’s decisions for MIT, Caltech, Ivies, etc. will be in RD since we put our eggs in the Stanford REA basket and got deferred. If he is lucky enough to be admitted to those, they would be a notch above UT without acceptance to Turing. I get the sense he isn’t alone in this line of thinking.

I’ve spent my whole career at a company that is notorious for constant change, organizational chaos, and lack of transparency. Even then we pick up clues and can find some logic. UT however has taken that to another level. See Georgia Tech for transparency in admissions and what a good case study looks like. Why not just be transparent and let everyone know the status of honors decisions? Will it really pierce the veil and hurt the UT brand?

Amen to that. We have reached out to UT multiple times for transparency on even basic questions and didn’t hear back . We are in a similar boat and would consider some of the other programs a notch above UT without Turing and it will factor in our decision making.

Sounds like an Ivy kid to me - ALL THE BEST!

I think they are extremely busy with applications. I am just going to believe that. I just hope the decisions are fair

Just venting.
I am not a Nobel prize winner or CEO of my tech company UT wants in a Turing scholar but not letting me know whether I am in Turing or not for this long is not a good thing, especially when one has to decide where to put a housing deposit down.

I think the frustration here does not come from that fact that we do not know, instead it comes from the fact that others know  If UT were to release all their decisions on the same day akin many other schools, it might be different. I know it is great for folks who hear early but for those of us who don’t …

I agree wholeheartedly. It has left a bad taste in my son’s mouth. I get that there is more demand than seats available but it would be better to treat everyone the same and release all at once.

Agreed. The fact that UT is so secretive with their decision dates/process combined with the fact many regular hear back before priority is mind boggling… As of now there are a little more than 90 prospective students in the discord, and I’m sure there are a few stragglers still needing to join, so unfortunately I believe most if not all acceptances have been sent at this point

Yup. I have denials and acceptances. It is the uncertainty that is frustrating. If I am not eligible, just say it and move on. No hearts will be broken here.
