Congratulations! It is good to have options and I find all of you in this thread to be highly driven students with bright futures ahead. We are elated and will anxiously await more results, including Turing of course!

Did you get in CS + major or CS?

Anyone else get an email to apply to Jefferson Scholar at COLA?

Got into CS

Yep I was wondering who else got that email

My son did and we are scratching our head to understand why they are asking us to apply for Jefferson scholars out of the school of liberal arts while admitted for CS!

Congratulations to those who got into UIUC. I didn’t apply there.

It further adds to the mystery that is UT admissions.

It isn’t my son’s first choice and he felt worn out after his UT application (he applied to both at the same time in October). He said his essays weren’t that great so perhaps ECs and stats helped him. His preferred cold weather schools are MIT, Princeton, Cornell, and CMU. Turing is still tops if they let him in due to proximity to home and total cost.

So we just looked up Jefferson Scholars and it is open to all students and not just those in COLA.

Is it is mainly for people interested in liberal arts?

They advertise it as a way of broadening for those even in STEM majors.

If anyone attended the virtual goto Turing, or knows someone that attended, is there any indication of how many they already accepted for sure? Recognizing some may not have joined the discord server. If accepted my son would be one of those as he has zero online presence except google accounts. Lol, he lurks through his parents.

Have seen estimates of 90-100 already and it seems they cap at 130 most years.

Best wishes to all under review as we near the last days of decisions. Also, did you all receive a letter (by post) from UT President urging to accept?

I’ve heard that they didn’t mention anything about acceptance for Turing. But I’m curious how many attended the virtual meeting since that could indicate how many are left

Finally received some communication from UT via mail (no emails still) They sent the posters etc as well. Other colleges have been sending constant communication since acceptance

From what i could tell there were a bit more than 100 participants in the zoom call, although there were some in the discord who are only attending in-person. @R_TX in regards to the gender ratio post u made a few days ago, it seems they are making more of an emphasis on that. they said 40% of accepted students this yr were women, but obviously they are still experimenting with the yield. anyway seems the decisions will be released either today/tmrw, so GL guys

Thanks for the information . Did they mention how to get instate tuition status after 1st year for OOS?

Thank you. Looks like we are towards the end so hopefully the decision comes soon!
