Rice, Chicago, Emory, etc. these are all lame. Even schools that people think are cool (Duke, Dartmouth) can't compare, especially in terms of hot girls.

One of Rice's parties (Night of Decadence) was placed on Playboy's list of 'top parties'. I do not know the exact name, but I am sure subscribers of this publication are well aware of it.

Collegebounded, you are nuts. Your ranking will only exist in your mind. There is no EARTHLY way Duke will go from never being out of top 10 to being 15th all of a sudden. Moreover, there is no way Upenn is going to drop. Your source of evidence is compelling as well LOL. I guess it won't be hard to figure out where you want to go to school next year. :)

But seriously, you GOTTA have one school that truly HAS IT ALL. WOuldn't you say so? Its not just that though. If you really went to all environments, Vandy has the best campus and best place for those things that define college life--> social life, professor interactions... It truly is that one school that epitimizes the way a college community should be. Sure have all your other prestigious academic universities. But Vandy, in contrast, does it all.

HAHAHA, princeton number 1...some random low-income child in Africa, with all due respect, knows of harvard, but will be in sudden pause when he hears of 'princeton'

Thats why harvard is number 1 and will never go away. It is that power of these rankings and prestige that causes everyone to be in awe when they hear of the name of the college. Clearly, Harvard has maintained its place as number 1 because of this and will continue to do so in the world.

Devil, you can't possibly be serious to say that you aren't bias. Duke couldn't even make the top 10 for the alumni giving list! Not enough tobacco money I guess.

Of course I am bias! When did I ever claim not to be?

"Duke couldn't even make the top 10 for the alumni giving list! Not enough tobacco money I guess."
Please stop. That comment was fatuous on levels I won't even divulge into. What does tobacco have to do with alumni giving to their school? Wow this is...wow. Upenn is ranked 4th in alumni giving, yet it is expected to drop 6 spots? Please go away.

ooooooooohh, guys collegebounded has tried a diss with the tobacco money...dude who cares about alumni money. If Bill gate or some random people graduated from say from like Drexel University, that school would be number 1. Speakign of which, since princeton isnt top 10, I guess you are right that Princeton should not be ranked so high.

Collegebounded, you really are a sweet kid with your random predictions....I mean did someone in your family fail duke or not get accepted...seriously why 15? And Cornell, how did it jump to 8, did a fewer number of students say, "i think ill jump off next year" to bump the rankings...seriously dude, you should stop making absolutely random claims.

I understand your sources, but be realistic. Why would Duke and Penn suddenly shift so radically? The formula is not being altered THAT prodigiously. You claim Duke is not top 10. Fine. But please substantiate this conjecture with more evidence than their alumni do not give as much. At least for the sake of ratiocination.

Take a look at what thread you are in before you post stupid replies. We are trying to predict the 2006 USNWR rankings. A primary factor of rank is ALUMNI DONATIONS.

The overall scores of these universities are so close that the slightest difference will have enormous effects. Even the 5% weight for alumni donations can swing the balance.

harvard, get into a "legit" top 20 school and come back next year after your hiatus in India and get back to us.

Go call up your "legit" private deerfield academy and complain that you wasted your money b/c you only got into Vandy and not into any real "legit" top schools honey.

No it cannot. Why? Because the alumni giving at these schools has generally followed the same trend for years. This year is no different. Even with the pre-existing alumni rates, the rankings would not shift in the manner you portrayed. Cornell ahead of Dartmouth? It won't happen this year.

Harvard2400: Ummm, Princeton has been ranked number one for a number of years now. Secondly, I doubt the "random low income child in Africa" would have ever even heard of Harvard either. To the "Average Joe" persay, Harvard is the best but to everyone that actually matters when it comes to your career, HYPSMC are viewed equally. If your ego really needs random people to look upon your college with awe, then go Harvard. As for myself, I picked a college based on how much I liked it.
Besides, reputations are fleeting. Harvard is undoubedtly the most "prestigious" school in the world right now, but it wasn't too long ago that Oxford/Cambridge held that role and not so very long ago that the great German institutions did too. Do I see Harvard falling from grace anytime soon? Of course not, but to assume that it will always be "number 1" is a bit naive.

Collegebounded: While many people would disagree with Penn/Duke should not be ranked equally to HYPMS (including myself!), the way the rankings currently are, I can't imagine them falling to the level that (I at least) feel they should be at.

sweet legit top 20, last time I checked, those geniuses at USNEWS made it legit. Berkely sucks those because its not legit, aka, not in top 20, that goes with GTown, uva, michgian, wake...list goes on..way to define "legit" by your own subjectivity.

collegebounded, alumni donations didn't change that drastically, and even if they did, its just not given that much weight to throw penn and duke out of the top 10 lol

devil, i am serious, you must use a dictionary or a theasurus when u r typing on these boards. Who in the world on an online forum uses words like prodigious, conjecture, ratiocination. Who are u trying to impress? Your CC homies?? Don't take it as an offense, but seriously, get a grip. I have a really strong vocab from memorizing many words for the sats and from reading, but I can tell you half the ppl reading your long-winded and convoluted responses do not either pay attention to half the stuff you say or ignore what you say completely.
