U.S senate page?

jrch24, I applied under Kay Bailey Hutchison (Tx). What about you?

sdl2014, I applied through the office of Robert Menendez (NJ) and the application due date for his office is not until July 2nd. I am not sure why it is so late… Senators are able to sponsor pages based on Seniority, so Kay Bailey Hutchison should have a good chance of sponsoring a page for the fall. Hopefully we will hear soon. Good luck! I hope we are both sponsored!!!

Thanks! I am nervously awaiting a response…That deadline does seem pretty late. However, Senator Hutchison’s office didn’t even have a fall deadline, only summer session deadlines. Luckily, I sent my application in then! Good luck! I really hope we hear good news soon!

Hopefully we will hear great news soon! I think every Senator’s office is different but we should hear in the next week or so. Let me know if you hear a response. I hope to see you in D.C this September!!!

I’m headed to D.C. this fall! My senator’s office called yesterday to tell me I’ve been appointed. I was told the dates for the fall semester are September 10th - January 25th. Has anyone else gotten good news yet? I’m coming from Houston, Tx and am so excited to meet the new pages.

Congratulations!!! I just came back from my time as a US Senate Page a few weeks ago. You’ll love it!!! Words can’t describe how amazing the experience is!!! Here’s a few tips: they aren’t kidding when they say you need to memorize the senators before you get there. There is an actual test on it. You have to recognize the senators by face, name, state, and party. Don’t worry, it’s not as hard as it sounds. Also, do NOT carve your name on the cabinet. You’ll see what I mean when you get there. A girl in my class got in huge trouble for it. The proctors at Webster are great… if you stay on their good side. Make sure you are on time to the minute. If you end up needing to work past curfew (and you will at some point) wait at least 15 minutes for the proctor on duty to go to bed/the office. I suggest buying a long distance phone card before you get there. You can buy an 800 min card for like $15. You can buy them at webster but it’s only 100 min for $5. Bring some headphones and an iPod. All of my fellow pages were great but there are times when you just need to take a breather from all of the noise. Oh, and bring Advil (they’ll let you keep it in your room)! Don’t forget to bring stamps, envelopes, etc. Put your name in all of your uniforms. We ended up sharing washing machines for our uniforms and some people didn’t write their names on them so it got a bit confusing. If you bring a laptop, you’ll have to go elsewhere to get internet. We always went to a coffee shop called Ebenezers about 4 blocks away from Webster to get internet. If you have any questions message me! I would love to answer them-- it gives me an excuse to reminisce haha. Good luck! It can get exhausting at times but it’s so rewarding

sdl2014,Congratulations!!! I have not heard anything yet from my Senator (Menendez NJ) but hopefully will hear something soon. If all goes well, I will be also going to D.C for the Fall!

Wooww I totally want to this program next year. Little mad because I never heard about tell today lol where have I been?

Hi I’m Andrew and I’m from Florida!
I’m really interested in doing this program but does anyone know if there has been a Sentate page from Florida recently?? Also, does anyone have a course book for the page school? I won’t be able to do this program till 2014 but I like planning ahead.

Thank you!

Ps CONGRAZ sdl2004!!! Best of luck this fall in Washington D.C.

hey Florida guy. Um there is a big map in the page school basement with pins on the origin of each page from the past several years, and I’m pretty sure there were very few, if any, from Florida. Because of that I’d recommend you also apply to some out of state senators, as well as the majority leader.

Oh ok thank you but do you know what coarses are served at the page school?

Anyone from NJ heard anything? I applied for the Fall Session.

Hey does anyone when all get feedback about the summer secession i applied in september but nothing yet

Hi, I’m looking to apply for the page program in the summer. But, I can’t find any information about it on my senator’s website. How do I get that information? Do I send an email from the contact form on his website or do I call his office?

One of my senators isn’t planning on sponsoring any pages in the near future. And the other has been such a pain to communicate with, I have already had to call several times today because of several issues with me gathering any information at all. I finally got transfered to the voicemail of the person in charge of the page program, but I havent gotten a call back. I don’t know if I will ever get a response. Is it possible to get sponsored by a senator that is not from my state?

rizzle19 who are you trying to apply through? Plus how did you get transferred to the person in charge of the program because i need to ask them questions about the page school. My school (a private catholic school) wants to talk to the person and see if the credits there matches before i can start applying.

@southflorida and @rizzle
First, to answer southfloridas question. Any specific questions about the page school should be directed to Mrs. Kathryn Weeden principal of the Senate Page School she will answer any questions you have about credits. Also, it is possible to have a senator form a different state sponsor you.

@rizzle, yes you definitely can! I called dozens of senators’ offices asking if I could apply and hit tons of roadblocks. But eventually I got the call from Senator Reid’s office telling me I got selected. And I live in Maryland! Neither of my senators were sponsoring pages, even though they are part of the majority party. Basically, keep trying and don’t give up. You might get lucky through persistence.

For anyone wondering, my counselor spoke to the principal, the courses they offer are calculus, physics, government/history, and composition(english), and they have tutors for foreign languages. They’re really flexible about making it work with your high school so that you’re able to avoid any long term issues.

Also does anyone know what the deal with cell phones is? Are we allowed to keep them while we’re there? Someone said to bring an iPod, but my iPhone is my iPod…so I’m just wondering.

how do I get connections with my senator
