@sagaciousforever Admit rate does not mean that NYU is academically stronger than UCSB… lol. Also, not everyone has the money to shell out NYU’s ridiculous cost, especially considering their notoriety for minimal fin. aid. While I do agree NYU is a fantastic school and arguably “more prestigious” than UCSB, I completely disagree with your reasonings.
@vegastransfer Thank you! I’ve also experienced homelessness in the past, and now I work at a homeless shelter. I totally agree that it is often drastically oversimplified; working directly with the homeless population has certainly shown me the sheer complexity of the issue. I appreciate the kind words
What’s your major/what do you want to do? I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors as well!
@sagaciousforever Okay ? Just thought I’d add a different perspective and support someone in making whatever choice is right for their own wellbeing
@willowstil Yes, by the end of the day what matters the most is which school fits you and makes you happy.
@willowstil I think what you’re doing is awesome! Keep up the good work! It is really an eye-opening experience to be in/work with people in those kinds of situations.
For me, I am a political science major. My dream is to work for the US Foreign Service as a political officer. It pretty much combines all of my interests into one career. I think it would be amazing to represent to US abroad and work on building stronger relationships between the US and other nations.
For all interested Berkeley applicants…:
Hi, I am also a transfer student from out-of-state university, so where are you from? And do you know how to calculate the major GPA? I also reject from UCSB, it’s so bad. @mesutozil
@willowstil that’s amazing! I’m studying cell biology and I plan on working in the medical field either as a doctor or PA.
@vegastransfer Thank you so much!
That sounds fascinating, and very important. Is there a region of the world you’d most like to work with?
@toronto99 Hey thanks! That’s awesome, I really admire anyone who can handle the intensity of the medical field.
Go Berkeley!
I know this is really late but chance me but I’m just nervous for decisions?

@anne123456789 No worries. Good luck in attending the college of your choice when you hear back from all the schools. I live in California as well. I currently study at Pepperdine and wish to transfer to USC, Emory, UCB, and UCLA.
@sagaciousforever Jeez, I would totally stay at Pepperdine bro lol. Berkeley or UCLA would kill your GPA.
@bruins8clap Are you a current UCB student? Where did you transfer from?
And yes, I want to get into UCB or UCLA. The chance is probably very small anyway, but it’s worth a try.
I desire USC and Emory most now, and hopefully, I will make it! Those two schools are easier than UCB or UCLA in terms of academic curriculum, stress, competition, and others.
Pepperdine is a good school but it’s lacking the diversity, alumni connection, and prestige that I want.
No I will be transferring to UCLA or Berkeley this fall. But idk man. If I had the chance, I would much rather go to a small private liberal arts school like Pepperdine or Pomona colleges. Easier to keep high GPA, which is better for graduate schools. USC would be dope though. USC is actually my dream school, but too expensive lol >.<.
@bruins8clap Good luck! You should have a higher chance than me to be admitted into UCB and UCLA because my GPA is not in the top range.
Pepperdine’s curriculum is actually not that easy, and I only have a 3.71. After this semester, it will probably be a high 3.7 but they are not gonna see it anyways.
I would attend USC or Emory if admitted. I lean towards them right now since UCB and UCLA are too competitive and you might feel like a number among many others.
I applied to UCLA because it was my dream school back in high school. UCB for the business program.
