@ashleymp Same, I didn’t sleep at all last night, I’m just filled with anxiety that I can’t close my eyes. I might need help or something.
I’m just gonna finish some work that’s due in like 2 weeks just to set my mind off things I guess haha. Or, I could take a walk outside and get some fresh air, perhaps I’ll do both .
I wonder if there are any good places to eat at Berkeley. I’ll definitely schedule a tour if I get admitted and I’ll scour the city to find some good places to have a nice time.
I heard there’s an area in Berkeley that reeks of poo? Idk just heard some rumors from people who lived there before lol
Yes My brother graduated in 2014 from there. I went to his graduation. They have a park where a lot of homeless people sleep at. Honestly the city seemed find and is very college oriented to me. However, the RESTAURANTS ARE EXPENSIVE AF.
I went to a vegan restaurant there with my family. I ordered 2 small vegan pancakes, 2 vegan sausages, and 1 vegan hot chocolate, and it came out to 16 dollars… like wth.
But there definitely are some good places to eat there.
@bruins8clap Ok soooooo I’m the opposite of a vegan lol. I’m a total meat lover haha. I hope that berkeley offers “regular food” rather than “vegan food” lol
I heard that the food offered at the campus are mostly vegan? I’m not sure but I hope I won’t be consuming salads lol I hate vegetables haha.
I wonder if it’s mandatory for transfers to even purchase a meal plan? I believe a meal plan is included with housing for freshman but I’ll be living at the University Village Quarters with family-student housing plan so idk
So, is it strange that I never received an email regarding Cal Day this weekend?! It seems like most who applied did. Maybe it’s deep in a junk folder somewhere…
I can confirm what @bruins8clap said is truly correct.
My sister got transferred to Berkeley for engineering. I visited the campus this year and the restaurants were expensive as hell, and there were so many homeless people on the parks. I am a Socal person, it just didn’t fit me for the fact that there were robberies and we always had to be careful of not to leave anything in the car that looks valuable. But I like the vibe at there, feeling like its all about work and fast-paced compared to socal. Also, the Haas School of Business building looks more beautiful and newer than the other buildings on the campus.
I didn’t receive an email either. I checked all my junk and folders within my email and nothing in sight. I believe @neilsola didn’t receive one either. Too bad Cal Day doesn’t accommodate transfer student decision dates. It would make more sense for them to have Cal Day on like the 21st of April so that we can see if we’re admitted or not on the 19th and then choose to attend.
@GoodAfternoonSir Sounds like someone forgot to put the Haas applicants on the mailing list. Lol I agree, I wish Cal Day was after decision day. It seems silly but maybe they like it this way because it draws a larger crowd.
I’m curious, was there any evidence of a second wave of Haas interviews?! They did a second group of interviews last year so I thought they’d do the same this time around.
@willowstil That’s the thing that gets me too. If I go and tour the campus and love it but don’t get accepted, that would be heartbreaking. I think UCLA has the better schedule in this aspect because people can tour after they get accepted.
@dwayneee Hey there, I’m a fellow Media Studies applicant as well! I emailed someone from the advising department awhile ago about pre-reqs (since I have all of them except for the required Media Studies that must be taken at Cal). She told me that if you get admitted into Cal it doesn’t admit you in to Media Studies, you have to take the required course and then be approved to enroll in the program. So, maybe they accept a lot of people into Cal for the major, but once you declare it after the pre-req they are choosy? Obviously I don’t know for sure, but this is just a thought.
