Huh it let me log in but I’m not really sure what that means

Ok this was actually a joke at first but then I actually tried It and it worked… This is copied and pasted from the login screen:

I’d say it’s safe to assume it means nothing

What do you guys think?

You sound, more or less, like most of us on here. Solid stats with good ECs.

I have no idea how admissions will choose ~100 from the 1,500+ applicants when so many are probably so similar.

Yeah it’s going to depend on the Essays mainly I assume. @briank82

Agreed.

Anyone else get a reply from the Leadership award and/or invitation to Cal Day?

I didn’t get the Cal Day but I

Got the Cal Day one, personally not going, gotta keep the expectations low!!

so I guess no emails on the leadership award today then

I didn’t get anything. :((

Hey guys!

I have a question about the cal day email from yesterday:

For those of you who got the email, did you happen to meet with a berkeley counselor during their visit to your college and wrote down your email on an information card, or did you happen to meet with a berkeley counselor on berkeley’s campus and wrote your email down either on an information card or through the registration system?

Also, were there any of you who did any of the above but did not receive a cal day email?

My friend and I got the email while some other friends did not, so we are wondering if the information card during our counselor visits is the reason to why we received the email as part of promotional activities.

I have received it and went to the a workshop from a Berkeley workshop.
Did all of your friend who received it also participate in the workshop as well?

Cal Day emails are meaningless. People got on an email list one way or another, but has nothing to do with indications of admittance.

haha yea i suppose they are meaningless. and no my friend and i only met with a berkeley counselor at our school and at berkeley’s campus, and we put our emails down for those

I’m going to CAL day with my school transfer center this weekend. I’m going to take a tour of the Business school at 10 am. Anyone else going?

Holy crap. Crazy story.

So I live in the northern Bay Area but spent a few days in LA, and flew home yesterday. I boarded my plane and was sitting in first class. It was just 2 rows of first class, so not a ton of people.

There is an older woman, like in her 50s, in the seat next to me as I’m getting situated. I pulled out my calculus book to do a little studying since I missed a day of class and she asks if I’m in school. I say yes and she asks where, and I told her just community college. A lot of her family goes to USC, as did she … and she’s a big fundraiser there and on the Board of Leaders at USC’s Marshall, and she does some obligatory namedropping. Then she asks where I want to go, and I said Haas. She replies with “that’s my family’s school…”

People talk out of their ass and say crazy stuff all the time, so I didn’t think much into it, maybe implying that’s where some of her family went. I kept listening and did some googling as we prepared to take off. She wasn’t lying. Her husband’s grandfather is Walter Haas. Her husband’s mother was one of three heirs to the Levi Strauss fortune.

Ho … ly … sh*t.

Haas is a school where legacy really doesn’t matter, especially compared to places like Yale or Harvard or USC. Her two sons are both in Haas though, and I’m not saying she pulled strings, but c’mon…

Bear with me for this next part.

Anyway. We had only been talking like 5 minutes, and she told me to give her my info and she would make a call for Haas to me on Monday and would see what she could do. Naturally, I did that.

Now, I don’t expect anything to come out of it. If for nothing else, people are notified in less than two weeks and at this point it’s probably an empty gesture. Secondly, she really doesn’t even know me, I think she just liked throwing around her clout. Thirdly, like I said, legacy really doesn’t mean much at Haas … but then again, her husband has donated tens of millions of dollars to the school and the school is named after the husband’s grandfather, and they raise a lot of money for the school, so I think they’re an exception. Really, I don’t think much will happen … but just that this chance encounter took place absolutely blows my mind. It’s pretty insane.

So that’s my story. Again, I don’t think anything would come from it but it’s just crazy how it went down and went from 0 to 100 so fast.

@briank82 Was the wife’s maiden name Friedman? The Levi Strauss connection? If so, I know them.
