UC Berkeley Haas 2019 Transfer Thread

@sagaciousforever He means that the information given that was intended for you to successfully transfer to a UC by your advisors is incorrect or misinterpreted.

@GoodAfternoonSir Your story was truly inspiring. Do you go to CC or Phoenix?

Best of luck!

@sagaciousforever Consider me a student of both. I’m a community college student who occasionally took classes at University of Phoenix as part of their open-policy program.

@Ohm888 “two articulated composition courses work for general ed if coming from a non-CCC.”
two courses? basically, that is kind of unfair for those students, I did my second English requirement within a month if I didn’t misunderstand you. It was a really easy class.

@GoodAfternoonSir I like how you are so encouraging and positive. I agree you should never lose hope, you never know what might happen.
Also, if it might help him, Grossmont community college in San Diego, they offer the 8-week online class for that English requirement sagaciousforever wants. He can check it out if he wants, its called ENG 124 class which starts at 04/01/2019-05/24/2019. I would tell him to take classes from in-state colleges to be more careful and there are more community colleges that will offer the class he wants.

At my college, they offer the 8-week course but they are all full or not an online class.

@AeroDE Thanks for the kind words. Anything is possible as long as you think outside the box and until you exhaust all of your options you’ll never know if something is absolute or not. If @sagaciousforever wants to he could either do what I did and enroll in Phoenix classes or just take an 8 week class at his local community college. He definitely can enroll people from four year universities do it all the time. It all depends how much he wants to get into a UC in the end

@GoodAfternoonSir I do not think that I am gonna take that English class though.

My GPA is not in the top range (3.71) and if I do not get into UCB or UCLA, that English class will be a waste of money and time. Also, I am missing the second semester of Calculus for UCB since I just took Business Calculus at Pepperdine.

Therefore, realistically speaking, I am aiming for USC and Emory now.

I do not have any safety school (It used to UCSD, but now I am missing the second English class). I guess if I am not admitted to UCB/UCLA/USC/Emory, then I would just stay at Pepperdine and aim for a top 10 MBA school.

Anyways, who knows if there are no miracles that the UCs could still accept me with my outstanding (I hope) essays?

I hope that you will make UCB and I will also keep you updated with my admission results.

@sagaciousforever thanks for keeping me in the loop over what happens next month, I appreciate the consideration. I hope you get into USC too

@GoodAfternoonSir Thanks for your offer of Phoenix University’s online class lol. I did check it up.

@GoodAfternoonSir Also, UCLA’s Business Econ is probably the hardest to get in. UCB HAAS will be the second hardest and then it’s USC. So both of us have the highest chance to get into USC.

Who knows if we might both end up there?

@GoodAfternoonSir Another thing, I’ve heard that UCI’s decisions will come out tomorrow (at least for most applicants). I applied to UCI just for fun (Pepperdine is arguably better). Let’s see what happens.

@sagaciousforever It’s for freshman applicants in March. In April it’s transfers

@neilsola I see!

@sagaciousforever I’m pretty sure all transfer decisions are in April for uc’s. my neighbor is a high school senior he should find out this month

@neilsola yup you’re correct

@neilsola @GoodAfternoonSir Well, technically not all UC’s wait until April. I’ve already been accepted into Riverside, Santa Cruz, and Santa Barbara begins releasing freshman and some transfer decisions tomorrow. ?

@ashleymp Oh those are the one’s I didn’t apply to lol didn’t know.

@ashleymp same lol I didn’t know too. I never applied to UC riverside. My mistake

Haha I’m glad I could share that fun fact. I know a lot of people who are really anxious to hear back from Davis, Cal, or UCLA and those seem to be the last ones who release decisions. Oh the stress of waiting.

@sagaciousforever Haas has always been harder to get into than UCLA’s Biz Econ. Haas has 5% admit rate, Biz Econ, 11%

https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major

@Ohm888 That’s because of the enormous amount of people who didn’t complete all pre-reqs. As stated in the class profile, for transfers in fall 2018, “1183 applicants did not show planned completion of the admission requirements and were considered ineligible. Of the 736 eligible applicants, 104 (14.13%) were offered admission”.

The 1,919 transfer applicants comprise both those who completed all pre-reqs and those who didn’t. https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major is accurate but doesn’t differentiate between these two factors. Of course, it shouldn’t though, after all, it is raw statistics.

You aren’t wrong, and according to the stats, yes Haas has a 5% admit rate overall. I just want to make it clear for everyone that as long as you complete the pre-reqs, the 5% chance rate becomes irrelevant to you personally. Of course, because if you don’t complete all pre-reqs by the spring before you transfer you simply cannot be admitted haha.
