UC Santa Cruz Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

@lbwaterpoloman Ahh I see, do you know which you are you going to choose?

^Still waiting on LA and Berkeley, but SB is what I’m thinking as of now I guess. The difference in money definitely tips the scales.

@lbwaterpoloman Yeah money is a big factor in any university decision. I got accepted to Pepperdine with a $35k scholarship, but that still is above $30k+ a year. - Do you know if the UC grants/scholarships renew each year? Are there any requirements like Fafsa is checked each year or are you pretty much guaranteed it to renew? GPA have to be above a certain level?

I’m pretty sure we have to apply each year, as it is not rare for a students financial needs to change one way or the other.

@pcarneva I am extremely shocked you got denied, because your GPA is a lot higher than mine and were the same major. And I have missing prereqs.

@deanne90504
My stats:

Accepted
GPA: 3.21
Major: Biology
TAG: No
IGETC: No ochem series
Accepted: UCSC, UCSB
Pending: UCI, UCD

I have a question, my parents are somewhat mid-high income and I only got approved for an 8,000 financial aid loan. UCSC and UCSB both gave me a grant for $13,000 which cuts my tuition in about half. Does anyone know where this grant comes from or how they calculate this? Is it an academic grant or just a financial need grant? I’m so grateful, I just want to know where it comes from or what it’s for.

I have been checking for my financial aid but I got nothing so far. I checked my “To do list” and it had two things:

  1. Your FAFSA has been submitted.
  2. Large Parent AGI and Wage Difference stating that, " Parent Income and AGI

LARGE PARENT AGI and WAGE DIFFERENCE

The parent(s) wages you reported on your FAFSA appear to differ significantly from their overall adjusted gross income. Large differences between adjusted gross income and parent wages may affect your eligibility for campus based aid, including university grant. Please review your FAFSA information and ensure your parent(s) adjusted gross income and their income from wages are accurate per the information on their federal tax return and wage statements (i.e. W-2, 1099). Please login to your FAFSA at fafsa.ed.gov, and review your responses carefully.

Campus based funds are limited. Please note your official financial aid offer could differ pending future verification of tax information by the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office."

There is also a deadline at the top: April 9 but I NEVER received an e-mail and just stumbled upon this! I saw my FAFSA had changed a bit (estimation error) so I corrected it but it happened to be ONE day late! Do you think I might not get financial aid?! What should I do???

Hi all! I logged on yesterday and saw that I had been accepted! I’m not exactly sure what day it was updated. Here are my stats:
GPA: 3.80
Major: Critical Race and Ethnic Studies
TAG: No
Pre-reqs: I’m pretty sure I’m not finished
IGETC: Finished
Accepted: UCSC
Pending: UCI, UCD, UCB, UCLA

I am waiting on my financial aid information now.
Good luck everyone!

@jonuni94 I want you to be accepted already!

Still haven’t heard… I no longer even check, I just assume nothing’s there.

Is hearing this late a bad sign?

@BE3ZY219 I knowwww, it’s been such a long wait. I feel like we were on this forum since the beginning pages. Now we’re at 25+ pages haha. Hopefully I get the decision soon!

Hey guys, what is the social/campus life in UCSC? And what kind of things are there to do in the area?

@BE3ZY219 I have the same message on my financial aid status. I’m hoping that ut just hasn’t been updated completely yet. It says cost total aid 0 even though my EFC is 0. Should I call the financial aid office? I submitted all forms/fafsa/etc on time so I’m not sure what the deal is with this. I got accepted Friday night (April 10). Has your situation been resolved yet?

Is hearing back this late a bad thing? Anyone applied as Evolution major?

Still waiting… Still checking every 6 hours

I’ve got my aid decision already. It is a pretty generous package. I will have the majority of costs covered by grants with maybe around 7k to be in loans. which is great considering my fafsa was done late. Does anyone know if the Finaid posted in guaranteed?

It sucks though, for UCSB it’s like the opposite with only 5k in grants and the rest in loans :confused:
I’m going to try to appeal though

@starkali @stressedgirl123 and everyone else worrying: don’t fret. I don’t think the timing of decisions necessarily implies whether or not you’ve been accepted. I was already unofficially accepted under TAG back in November but still haven’t received the official news of acceptance, even though I met all the conditions outlined in the agreement.

Accepted :slight_smile: BME major!

@sliceoflife24 Congrats!!!

I’m a BME major still waiting. Did you get the acceptance today?!

@jonuni94 Thank you!
And yes, I checked today.
