Thanks, petaandpita!

The deadline says it’s on the 14th of February. Does that mean by 11:59 on the 14th or by the start of the 14th?

^Does it matter? Get it done tonight. Better not take any risks.

I encourage everyone to apply for the Alumni scholarship…it is NOT useless as it can be a significant amount of money depending on how far you get. Not everyone gets the invite and you meet some great people along the way.

Definitely agree with gatos – I know a lot of people who have 8k, 10k, 15k, or 17.5k scholarships. Some of my best friends I met at State Finals/through ASC. State Finals made me fall in love with UCLA and definitely was the deciding factor in me choosing UCLA. Good luck everyone!!!

My son wants to join the UCLA Marching Band. Does that help your chances of getting an alumni scholarship?

If you were invited to apply for the scholarship by UCLA and apply, does it look better or boost your admission chances in any way? By applying, does it show the LA you really want to go there and perhaps shows them your dedication/motivation. Or do the admissions office and scholarship program not communicate at all. What happens if you apply and don’t make it into UCLA?

I think the 2 offices are separate and admission decisions are mostly made already except maybe those that got supplement

Are there people who didn’t receive the scholarship email, but still got into UCLA?

Lots of applicants get in who don’t receive the email! Dont worry :-)

Hey guys I have a question. I also received an invitation to apply for an UCLA Alumni Association Scholarship, but it’s for out of state students. It has a different deadline and amount award than the Freshman UCLA Alumni Scholarship, which is only for residents of California. Should I take this email as a good “sign” or does every out of state applicant receive it? Let me know what you think

^Of course its a good sign
They don’t email everyone about the Alumni scholarship. It could only help you.

And I encourage everyone (if deadline hasn’t already passed) to apply for the scholarship…personally I made my first good friend at UCLA through the process before school even started and met a ton of interesting people. Actually, state finals is what made me set on going to UCLA. Good luck to everyone

Really? That’s great news! I wasn’t sure if like every out of state student was emailed about the scholarship or not.

Got the email asking me to apply for the alumni scholarship last year, but ended up getting rejected still (note: I didn’t apply for the scholarship either)

So the email definitely doesnt guarantee you a spot in ucla, but I assume it means you have a good chance.

When do they start calling people for interviews?

They call the weekend/a couple days after you get your acceptance IIRC.

Whats IIRC?

oops it means if I recall correctly. I get my board jargon mixed up sometimes

Oh, hahaha. Thanks! :)

I received this invitation a while ago. I didnt make much of it because of my mediocre grades. Hhmmm… I doubt its a boost.
I have a 3.76 UC GPA and a 24 ACT

What did you get??
