Just to reiterate, it does not matter which session you are in. We will hold classes for you and for each individual session.

I look forward to meeting all the History and Poli Sci majors this summer.

They must have had some spots up their sleeves! That or a lot of people called and cancelled, which is probably not the case. What wolves, UCLA!

SimonPhase-- are you affiliated with UCLA or did you read that somewhere?

i guess ill see you on the 30th simon

I am one of the History and Political Science Counselors for Orientation.

Please do not send me messages asking what classes you need to take, this will be addressed at orientation as well as many other things, such as degree format.

Also for those of you who are curious, we only have a certain number of counselors assigned to each major. As a result there are only a certain number of spots for each major at each orientation. UCLA is not opening up anymore spots, we have the right amount for all the new transfer students coming in.

Simon- I was admitted as a pre-psych but am looking to change to history. I spoke to someone at the department and they told me I would be able to do this during orientation without a problem. Can you clarify or confirm this?

Changing majors is done by departmental offices, it is rare that they allow a major change however. I have heard of people going from an impacted (such as psych) to a non impacted (such as history) As long as you have all the pre-reqs completed it is possible they may grant you a major change.

Just out of interest, why do you want to change?

wow really? he told me it would not be a problem even though i don’t have all the pre-reqs completed.

i don’t like that ucla’s program is scientific and theoretical. i’d much prefer social psychology, but since that’s not ucla’s strength, i’m going with history.

If he was the departmental counselor then I would take his advice. My job is basically to plan out classes and advise major tracks for students.

The psych major here at UCLA is very adaptable. Outside of 100a, 100b and the Column A requirements there are alot of social/developmental/not strictly scientific psych classes.

finally able to enroll… sadly, i got stuck with session 207… :(

SimonPhase do you have any info about UCLA’s Philosophy department? I know all my questions will be answered during orientation, I’m just wondering what to expect.

so proud to be a Bruin!.. just thought I’d share.

Simon - do you know when the Fall 2010 schedule will be posted?

lol so i went to some mall in pleasanton, ca to try every computer at their apple store. after the fifth iPad gave me the same result of “page cannot be displayed”, i just called up a friend who went to their nearest library. SESSION 203 WUT UP.

orinda library is the ish

so is everyone’s arrival time for each session at 7:30 AM?

Session #: 203
Arrival Date & Time: 7/15/2010 8:00:00 PM (I’m doing Early Arrival)
Check-in Date & Time: 7/16/2010 7:30:00 AM
Depart Date & Time: 7/16/2010 9:00:00 PM (-_-)

^
I really really REALLY doubt it will take that long. You should definitely call the Orientation office and ask, tell them your situation, if it really is that long, then I’m sure they can let you know.

Edit: Ahh, an hour until my last day of classes. Finishing editing my English literature paper…talk to minna later!~

Apparently, it DOES take that long.
