when's the deadline for these things?

at this point its too late to get one. It is due in a day or two. At the same time its not all the borderline ppl getting requests for extra info im srue theres more but i talked to Flopsy about it and getting that email might be a ploy by UCLA to look for an excuse in an appl to reject you. As in dropped classes, weak grades, etc etc. Its a pessimistic way to look at it but is very possible seeing how they have a huge influx of borderline kids with the new holistic approach.

what is the ballpark range for borderline?
borderline numbers I guess.

no its really puzzling my firned got one but has a 3.67 w uc gpa and a 2050 and a few ppl who got one had 1700 sats so its really unpredicatable. Iono why El got one and i didnt but yeah..confused..

flong: mine isn't due until sat. so there may still be a chance. also i kind of believe the ucla ploy thing..i think they just send it out to make it seem like i have a chance but then even if i send in something they'll still reject me without even looking at it..=[

well heres what i honestly think: those who got the email are in the borderline grouping and LA wants the extra info to A) have that extra info make you competitive with the other ppl whose apps alre already strong enough AND B) to eliminate those extra apps who were borderline but with grades or essay or wahtever stats is now too weak to compete with th eohters. Its a 2 way thing

i didn't get one either and im really concerned cuz it seems like ucla doesnt agnolidge the fact that i applied at all. they haven't contacted me even once, while all the other uc's have sent me at least something.

uc gpa: 4.25
sat: 1950
sat 2 700, 650

if i didnt get the supplemental does that mean im rejected?

Reason A is sufficient. You receive the supplement so they can pick the best of the "borderline students". The application doesn't measure much more than numbers and statistics outside the personal statement. Possibly more factors not included in the application (performance in senior year, extra statements, special circumstances) can push the applicant towards the accepted pile.

hmm really i thought they were also trying to boot some of the weaker kids as well wtih this supp app..oh well..early to mid march

Accepting borderline students would mean the same as rejecting some borderline students.

Flong, you'll have to wait for late March for what you've been waiting and stressing forever about. :)

hahah great thanks :P

Yeah, seriously flong... I think just about every member on the UCLA forum has read your stats and judged your chances at least twice... and we all know you had a Microsoft internship. :p

bannana_girl:

how'd you get a 1950 and 4.25 GPA when you can't even spell acknowledge?

life sucks!

^ It will only suck for another month or so... unless we don't get in, of course. (But even then I'll only be sad for about... an hour. It's just the waiting that's killing me.)

rofl thanks emmeline -_-x. yeah i needa stop freaking out..i nkow im in a better position then most

college addict...sweety its called having a life outside of the internet =D u should really try it maybe then you'll also have a 4.25 and not a 4.1 as well as a 1950 instead of your 1880...you really don't needa pay attention to your spelling in an internet forum okiie?? really its no biggie, your teacher wont lower your grade just because you don't pay attention to how you spell online.

Mine isn't due till the 22nd

good thing i didn't get a supplemental info request

or, you could just spell things semi-correctly, instead of misrepresenting yourself as someone who will need rememdial english at any school you attend.
we'll be more likely to WANT to discuss things with people who look like they care about what they're talking about. normal online english is one thing; careless sloppiness is another.
and regardless of what someone says about you, fight the comment, not the person, otherwise it just reflects badly on you. besides, stats aren't everything.
play nice, people!!!
