hi, im trying to apply to ucr for fall 2012, my gpa right now is 2.9, can i still do the tag because im going to get a 3.0 after 2011 fall semester?
and if not, do you think i have a good chance of making into ucr, major is business administration and i will have finished the igetc and all my lower division courses by spring 2011.

To my knowledge, they approve TAG’s based on your grades and predicted coursework at the beginning of Fall, so I don’t think you’ll get on that boat, sadly. As far as standard admission goes, we need more information to chance you:

Is your 2.9 steady or have your grades been on an upward trend?

What kind of extracurricular activities do you participate in?

Is this something you’re passionate about?

/close thread.

@anacondrea, hows that heat in roseville? im planning on doing a sunsplash trip.

^ I’m actually at UCSD for Summer session currently. My bf still lives up there and he’s said the weathers been funky lately, but should be in the mid-nineties this weekend and probably the 100’s again next week. Perfect Sunsplash weather =]

UCSD fall admit?

■■■■■ shame on me for hijacking this man’s thread

oh well your question has been answered pretty much pal.

i was also wondering if i only apply to one uc (ucr), if they will automatically accept me since the minimum gpa is 2.4 for uc transfer

check that PDF form sir.

you can only TAG to one UC this year.

however if you are applying regular, you might have a better chance, you have to meet the preliminary requirements for TAG to even be considered.

2.4 is sorta pathetic anyways for UC, thats like a D average almost. thats probably because UCI/UCLA outshines UCR. i bet with budget cuts they might consider closing UCR, IMO the med school they were building was their best bet to having a NAME.

but 2.4 is the minimum you have to meet, then you have to write a personal statement and have extracurriculars.

@ stevololpb18 NO!!! No one is ever guaranteed admission by meeting minimum requirements and sometimes even over-qualified applications are turned down because of the strength of the application pool that year. With the UC budget cuts, you should expect it to get harder and harder to get in each year.

Advice: Apply to as many UC’s as possible and if you get into any, rejoice! Then consider your option(s). Maybe even apply to some CSU’s. If you’re thinking that UCR is still the feeder school for UC eligible applicants who were turned down everywhere else, that is incorrect. UC Merced now has that role (and it’s actually a really fantastic university, just has yet to develop a reputation)

@UCkittychen Yes, I am a Fall admit at UCSD taking Summer courses to make sure I am on track and able to take all the classes I want for Fall.

ana, so you just want to get away from CCC huh? ■■■■■ you want to enjoy that SD life. or they just didnt have the classes you need at your CCC?

how is the housing their? do you get it with financial aid?

just wondering because like you im going to try to get an early start on my UC of choice by acceptance, and am wondering how it works.

@UCkittychen No financial aid for incoming transfers for the Summer before the admitted term starts, looooaaaaannnnsssss. BOO.

The housing is good, I’m living in building 4 of the village east. It’s small and I have one horrible suitemate, but I’ll only be here 6 weeks so I can live.

If you look here: [ASSIST Report: SIERRA 10-11 UCSD Articulation Agreement by Major](<a href=“Welcome to ASSIST”>Welcome to ASSIST) you’ll see that my CCC equivalent of the 4 unit BILD1 class is 12.5 units of Biology by three different courses. I’m here now so I can take 8.5 less units this Summer =]

goal?

effffingcharactercrap

what do you mean by predicted coursework, like if i get my overall gpa above 3.0 by this fall semester, they will approve me?

potentially, its called contingency.

on your TAG application you put your classes you are in, as you submit the application in september, so you will be enrolled, so based off of your current and previous history they will estimate whether you will proficient the same.

so theres still a chance i could get approved for tag if i get above 3.0 after fall sem?

yes sir. they might accept you and say if you dont meet the GPA by the end of Fall 2012, they will revoke you.

whats your major?

im guessing they will too, because UCR isn’t mosts TAG first choice

major is business administration, calc killed me last sem

are you taking summer classes? did you just find out about TAG?

im guessing what i said above will happen, you will basically have to bust your butt to pull up your GPA, & they might provide classes they want you to complete before you transfer as well pal.

im taking a couple classes right now

hmm, im sure if you excel well in those you will have a 3.0 GPA.

or are you saying 2.9 AFTER this summer because you are anticipating high grades?
