It seems every body gets different answers, I was told they start reviewing appeal letters after june 1
I agree with @SofiSana . The guy I spoke to didn’t really seem like he knew everything @sarwhal because there were a lot of inconsistencies with what he told me vs other information I had heard, e.g. when we would hear back and what they look for in appeals. I think its all up in the air because there’s no set way to determine if we’ll be admitted and we should hope for the best
Appeal letters for transfers may start being reviewed after June 1 but for freshman admissions - I believe they start reviewing before May 1. I was read threads from previous years and freshman appeal decisions generally came out around the first-third week of May. Some people were notified before May 1. Now if they reach cap number of students they can admit then we will get a notification May 1 of being denied.
@ucsbcandi I remember reading somewhere that recently the UC system passed some rule stating they have to review the appeals and not only admit from the waitlist. Back then, they used to only admit people off the waitlist even though there was the option of appeal and I think they got some controversy over that. Now they have to admit people from both appeal/waitlist if there is room and if there are valid appeals.
I get this feeling that there are a lot of appeals this year for UCSB. When I called, they said they just receive two more big batches of appeals…sounds like they’ve already received a lot…Last year they said they had around 500-600 and around 40 people were admitted off appeal (I received these stats from the UCSB admissions office when I called)
Hey guys I was admitted off appeal this morning! On the 18th, a UCSB counselor asked for my winter grade (Im a transfer student), and I cannot believe the decision came out that soon! Good luck to everyone else!
@chianc Congratulations! So you will be a junior at UCSB next year?
I’ve been rejected by UCSB and UCD so far. All thats left is UCLA… might no get into any UC, so looks like I’ll have to start appealing! Good luck everyone.
@chianc congrats!!! What was your appeal’s focus? I still haven’t heard anything (I’m an incoming freshman)
So I actually put the wrong info on my TAU, so there was a shortage of my transfer units. All I wrote in my appeal letter was just providing the correct information.
@WinstonZayne Yep!
@chianc do you mind sharing when you mailed your appeal? As well as the major you applied for and stats?
Any one have feedback on appeals yet?
@chianc when did u submit?
@UCFreakKKK chianc had posted that they sent in their appeal on 3/23
@SofiSana no feedback for me. I am an incoming freshman. Are you as well?
No feedback from me either. Appealed on March 25th. Status only shows: Received - Pending
I am a transfer applicant so odds are I won’t hear back until June
@ucsbcandi are you an incoming freshmen? I think we will know between the first and third week of May. I’m really hoping they don’t notify us in June or July.
Yes. I am an incoming Freshman. I agree. I think we will hear within the first few weeks in May.
