@yanksrule200 you can still be accepted without getting a call. I would guess that most people who are accepted don’t receive a call xx
Here it is @gonewiththeair:
SAT: 2280
WGPA: 4.79
Major: Computer Science
Ethnicity: White/Asian
Others: Club and HS Varsity; No science/math awards - not big on stuff like this; my volunteer hours were very targeted to my specific sport and technology; Stanford summer internship; essays were good, as well as, recs (I think)
I got the call as well. However there was no mention of anything about regents or honors. Does anyone know if they are explicitly telling people that they got regents during the call? Or do we have to wait til the 11th to find out?
@Swiftie97 congrats! Would you mind telling me, has your portal been updated with a notice of acceptance?
Oops, I just found out I gave them the wrong phone number! I really hope they didn’t try to call me.
i’m wondering, if any of you get the call during the proceeding days, can you ask if they plan to call all applicants or just the URM/regents/honors candidates?
Thanks! And no my portal has not been updated. It still says under review. I’m guessing we will have to wait till the 11th.
Oh my gosh I was looking over my application and saw that I didn’t check the box for authorization for them to contact me! Guess I won’t be getting a call lol. Hopefully i can still get in later
UCSD parent: 3 years ago UCSD called our home but our son was out. The caller said this is UCSD but that he would not tell us why he was calling. He told us UCSD would call back. They never did. We assumed our son was accepted. We had to wait until the decision date. He was Regent. Portal was NOT updated until the decision date. If you want more information about the early calling campaign here is a link to this year’s campus notice. http://adminrecords.ucsd.edu/Notices/2016/2016-2-23-1.html
So they’re calling Regents kids, URMs, and top admits? Meaning, if you aren’t called, that means you were not a Regents or a top admit (hence, rejected)?
@alphabetatrig No. You could be a Non-URM applicant who isn’t a top applicant and still get accepted.
When I received the phone call, they said that the portals are going to be updated around the 11th. The whole early campaign calls seems to me that they are calling the top applicants early so they can start to be interested in UCSD, and thus increasing their yield of higher applicants. If you didn’t get a call, it doesn’t mean you won’t get in… I wish the best of luck to everyone!
What are my chances?
1950 SAT

First gen
Low income
Applied for physiology and neuroscience
Do they make international calls too? Or is it just for US students?
For those of you who got the calls, did anybody an email informing about the acceptance?
@odd1out I’m an international student as well but I feel like they wouldn’t call just because of time zones and international call rates. Best of luck on the 11th!
@Proliarix I got a call but not an email. If I understand correctly, as of now we just have the call to go by and will only receive a written, formal acceptance when everyone’s admission decisions are announced in mid to late March when it is released online.
They said that they’ll be calling the top 30% of the applicants, but last year’s acceptance rate was about 33%… so hypothetically assuming that this year’s acceptance rate is also 33%, only 3% of the admitted people won’t be receiving a call? Or am I misunderstanding this?
Also, is UCSD determining who gets early admission ONLY by GPA/SAT or ACT, ALL academic merit (including SAT 2’s, AP scores, etc.), or BOTH academic and subjective merit?
@blessupman I am pretty sure its top 30% of admits
@blessupman it’s too 30% of all people accepted, not top 30% of applicants. I think the 30% is based holistically
