UCSD Class of 2020 Discussion

@blessupman I believe it’s the top 30% of admits, not applicants. So given the 33% accept rate, that’s around the top 10% of applicants getting a call. Assuming they get through the whole list in 2 weeks.

I’m patiently waiting for my call like… lol

Thanks, guys, I thought so haha. Have most people who’ve received a call received it around 4-5 PM Pacific time or were the calls all scattered?

Ugh. I want a call! Never been this eager to see who is calling and answer the phone haha!

Hmm… I would assume that tomorrow, they will call all day since it is a Saturday. Same for Sunday. Any thoughts?

@IBGuy101 I agree!

Below clarifies their intent:
“The Early Calling Campaign is the first of the series and will take place March 1-6, 2016. Faculty and staff are asked to call Regents Scholars and historically underrepresented students who have been admitted to your department, program or college. By participating in this important yield event, you will be the first person to share with these students the exciting news of their admission to UC San Diego! Following the Early Calling Campaign, current UC San Diego students will call admitted students to invite them to Triton Day and campus overnight programs; the following week UC San Diego alumni will share their Triton experiences with admitted students who are not contacted in the first two campaigns.”

I hope this helps!

Thanks for sharing this!

So, what about the middle group, those who are neither Regent nor underrepresented? This whole call thing makes me more nervous… if I don’t get a call, that means I am rejected? That sucks…

@Ant1ng No, if you don’t get a call it means you’re like the other 70% of admits who won’t be called. Don’t worry and just chill until the 11th when everyone else finds out

11th are you sure? :expressionless: @Ant1ng

11th, that’s not bad. I will try to survive till then…

Wow, I think I got a call from them at around 6:50 PM PST with No Caller ID.

I thought nothing about it when I saw that I had a missing phone call from no caller ID until my parents told me about the UCSD calls.

Is there a chance that they will call those who didn’t receive it the first time? Can I call them tomorrow (Saturday or Monday) to see if they did indeed call me?

I really wish I can check who called… but no caller ID is proving to be very difficult. :frowning:

Could the number be from anywhere? Or will it be from California? I got a call from a number on the east coast but missed it last night.

@eric2020 Its from San Diego since the university is UCSD so yes, it is a California number, but it could possibly be a number just outside from the San Diego area code as others have mentioned.

How do you guys know that the 11th is day we receive our admission status ???

Did anyone get a call without a caller ID?

It looks like in the previous years, they called without a caller ID but this year, it seems that’s not the case anymore?

@nainakajol In years past, UCSD has often released decisions on the same day as UCD. That being said, UCD has already confirmed that it is releasing decisions on 3/11 (usually the 2nd Friday of the month).

Anyone please comment if you have received a call today or tomorrow.

At 5:07 PM PST yesterday, I got a call from a “No Caller ID” and thus could not call back. Honestly, not sure if this was UCSD or some random telemarketer; but, I do know that I’ve lost my mind.

I just got accepted by a postcard that said I was in and invited me for a dinner for admitted students. My portal hasn’t been updated to reflect this though. I live in Los Angeles if you are curious.
