UMASS Amherst Decisions 2022

Has anybody from instate heard from Biochem? I’ve known people who have applied from instate and heard back, but I haven’t…

Please state if you are IS or OOS when accepted to Engineering program. Thank you

In-State - Collage of Engineering accepted. Stats - 4.7 GPA w 3.98 uw, 34 ACT, many AP classes. No honors No Merit. Not too surprised about merit since instate but the honors program… Does anyone know if they ever reconsider?

@TDJM50 - We’re in-state.

@leapyearG We’re disappointed, too. Lowell offered her $7500 and the honors program. I wasn’t expecting Amherst to give her the same, but thought maybe they’d give her something whether it be a few bucks or the honors program.

@copterMom33 Umass Dartmouth Collage of Engineering Accepted. $46,000 for four years. But too close too home ugh why … I thought this would be the right fit.

Sorry for reposting my original comment…forgot to add that we’re IN-STATE:

D accepted in Engineering (ACT 33, SAT 1480, 3.9 UW, 4.63 W, 9 AP classes, plenty of ECs). No Merit, No Honors so UMass Amherst is basically going to cost the same as WPI with the merit package they offered. Both are ranked the same nationally as engineer schools so it’s really going to boil down to which environment is a better fit for my D.

@leapyearG OMG I know EXACTLY how you feel…ULowell is too close to home for D as well! It will probably end up being WPI but who knows…there’s 7 more RD applications out there that we won’t hear back from until March.

Accepted to Undecided-Engineering Track with $10K per year.

3.51 UW but not including DE classes (5), all of which are A’s.

1330 SAT 720M/610R&W
29 ACT 30 E 34M 25R 26S
750 Math 2

I was upset that I did not get into my major (Computer Engineering) and so I am kind of confused and disheartened. I have taken Math classes up to Calc 3 and have a very strong upward trend. I thought I showed great interest and experience in engineering in my app but I guessed not…

Oh well. Paying $33K per year at UMass sounds a lot nicer than spending $55k per year at WPI… I am just really conflicted right now.

Congrats to everyone on this thread who has been accepted. If you are still waiting I wish you the best of luck and if you were deferred or rejected, keep your head up and stay strong!

Accepted to the College of Engineering with the Chancellors Award of $14,000 and admission to the honors college(.(OOS)

3.72 UW, 33 ACT

Still waiting to hear back from a couple other schools, but UMass is definitely one of my top choices!

@CopterMom33 MA is so competitive that it’s discouraging … Seems mostly oos received any merit and who knows about the honors collage. WPI would be $36K with merit for us which is still a bit more but at least it’s a smaller program. There is still RD to wait on so keeping our fingers crossed. :frowning:

I applied in state for engineering and I did not get an email. Does that mean I did not get in?

not necessarily. Remember that they get to everyone in batches. So it’s all really luck.

@Hbiliouris335i just from reading through the threads it seems like all over the place as to when people hear back. Are you in-state or out of state?

Haven’t heard anything yet, applied for psych and seems like a lot of psych majors heard back :frowning: Anyone apply to go for the same major and haven’t heard yet? Im in state

@leapyearG I am In state my friend heard back from the same town, but he applied mechanical and i applied civil.

This is kind of a random question, but does anybody know if freshmen are allowed to have cars on campus at UMass Amherst?

@Hbiliouris335i I wouldn’t give up just yet it’s early and they seem to be sending out letters sporadically. Good luck!

Son got into engineering program and the honors college. Dean scholarship. Sat 800 math /690 verbal. Subject tests - 800 math 2. 690 physics. Gpa. Weighted- 4.2/4.5. In state Lots of extras. Attended college programs in summer.

@Jessro4 yes they can
