UMASS Amherst Decisions 2022

3.5 gpa uw 1150 SAT

Deferred, 1330 SAT and 3.2 uw

In state. Got deferred to regular decision for nursing. 4.2 uw gpa. 1350 sats. 7/158 class rank. AP/honors classes. Lots of EC/sports. Oh well. Disappointed but not surprised…I didn’t do very well on my sats. :frowning:

has anyone been accepted today?

I was also deferred to Reg decision: Isenberg 3.8W; SAT 1510
At least I wasn’t denied

D was deffered for early action for nursing. Email says she can still be considered down the line.
Not surprising at all with supposedly only 64
Spots avail. She’s In state with 3.92W GPA, NHS, 28 ACT, lots of AP and Honors.
Not really surprised as their nursing is so competitive. Looks Like PITT is in play now so we can’t complain:)
Good luck to all those still waiting

@collegedad33 I got into Pitts too, does she have any aid or scholarship? Because mine is none.

Deferred for nursing. I’m out of state, 1300 sat, 3.9 uw gpa, NHS, no AP or Honors because all of my classes are dual enrollment at the local CC. A good amount of EC’s as well.
Not surprised though as others have mentioned, their program is super competitive. Might resubmit my app for regular decision but unsure of my chances with that.

@Joezzzzz I’m hearing PITT let’s us everyone know about financial aid at some point this month. UMASS would have been great but PITT is no slouch either. Incredible program. Good luck!

Not surprised deferred 3.0 uw SAT 1210

Still didn’t get response for EA, anyone with the same situation? What is the deadline of their rolling out process for EA?

@Collegedad33 - have you heard any merit from Pitt? My son deferred today as well for nursing - 4.5w, 1350 SATS, all honors and 8 APs, EC etc. He got into Pitt too and likes the idea of all the NIH money there and lots of research opportunities. However, have not heard about merit and FA told us no chance of any Fin Aid! Ugh. He has several good merit back ups but would have liked the chance to give UMass a shot -

Ugh momtofourkids we didn’t hear today, but my son has the same stats as your son. Doesn’t look good for us.

@catcoco I haven’t heard back either!! We’re supposed to hear back by mid-January

@Dad3782 - good luck, you never know what they are looking for and if you did not hear today maybe its a good
thing!

Son applied in-state for EA for engineering and was deferred today. :frowning:

GPA: 3.9
SATs: 1570 (780 writing/790 math)
SAT subject tests:800 biology/760 math II

All courses accelerated, honors, or AP.
AP courses junior year: 5 biology/5 US history
3 AP courses senior year Stats/physics/calculus (will test in May)

4-year, 3-season varsity athlete. Swim team captain.
Community service, employed as life guard.

I just don’t understand why he wasn’t accepted here. Fortunately he was already accepted to Umass Lowel (w/honors college invitation), and WPI (with generous 4-year merit scholarship)

@LolliCoomassie i am sure you are (righfully) upset but i think some schools assume that with such high stats that its your safety school and hence defer . so sometimes kids get into more competitive program and get deffered in the less competitive. if you are seriously interested talking to your admission counselor will help. good luck jeep us posted…!!

@LolliCoomassie is your son’s 3.9 gpa weighted or unweighted? but that’s very surprising that he was not accepted…

@LolliCoomassie that is very surprising. What field of engineering did he apply for? My son was accepted in state with a 3.7 GPA and 1400 SAT. He was undecided exactly what type of engineering and was admitted to the exploratory track.

It looks like some people got deferred or denied today. Don’t know if anyone apply biology received a response today?
