Applied undecided in state haven’t heard back yet
@nwahs21 I am confused as well! I received an email from the Admissions Office last month in response to a question. She clearly stated that ALL nursing decision letters were mailed at once.
I applied to Umass Amherst on October 30th and still haven’t gotten a response. It has been saying that my application is “under review” since mid december. It’s the only school I haven’t heard back from and I need to make my decision by January 31st for financial reasons. I hope I hear back within the next week.
@MalcolmMad Did you apply to Nursing?
I applied nursing but I did language as a second major my guess is I didn’t get into nursing and they considered me for my second choice and that’s why they didn’t send my acceptance with the rest back in December. So I’m assuming when I hear back I will get into the school for languages not nursing… Just my theory
@bluedoggy4 No I applied as a Japanese Language & Literature major
I just spoke to Admissions. They said it is not true that all of the same majors decisions were sent at same time.
@Mtrach4 Thank you… not sure why I was told that. I wonder if all the acceptances were sent at the same time? My daughter applied Early Decision Nursing to all of her schools. This is the last one… would be nice to have a decision!
@EagerStudent23 Do you know of Nursing applicants that have received decisions?
My son applied 10/1 and we haven’t heard anything. How long should it take
I applied on 10/16. I’m still waiting for a letter. I have 3.9 or whatever a 93 weighted GPA is, 2 AP classes and a 4 on an AP exams, a good essay and a 1600 out of 2400 SAT with ok extracurriculars. Anyone who is still waiting should seriously consider going somewhere else . If they are that inconsiderate to give people a letter back on time than I don’t think they will do a good job helping the students. Luckily I got into Quinnipiac with a big scholarship and Towson so I don’t have to worry.
@Hnadler1017 I applied on 8/1 and I’m STILL waiting for a letter. Ok GPA, 2000 SAT, 1 AP, a pretty good essay, decent ECs, and lots of interest. I have also been accepted to Quinnipiac with a scholarship, as well as Stetson and Rider (both also with scholarships). I can really see myself ending up at QU, tbh.
@hnadler1017 - The website says everyone will hear by mid-January. It’s hard when others get decisions and we have to wait (and wait, and wait), but they aren’t being purposely inconsiderate.
lbad are you giving up on UMass already? What happened to even if I’m wait listed I would start Spring 2016? I know that waiting can be discouraging but it’s not over yet. Remember my son waited 6 months, and according to him, it was worth the wait. You don’t have to accept any offer until May 1st and that is a long way off. So shrug off this wait, your letter will be arriving sometime in the next week or so. I believe everyone knew by 1/16 what their fate was. And yes those deferred do get offers (and with scholarships too).
@bucky0926 not giving up on UMass at all; just really starting to believe your earlier hypothesis about my fate. I’ve waited five months from when I applied. If I were to be deferred, that would be extended to eight months, maybe even more. I’m not obsessed with UMass any more tbh. Although they’re still my first choice, I’m not losing any sleep over waiting. I’m just saying that QU looks to be a more attractive choice (but not more so than UMass) day by day.
I think the reality is if you didnt receive an acceptance in December… it is most likely a rejection or deferral. I’m not quite sure why they prolong it.
I respectfully disagree, bluedoggy4. It’s possible that they may put some aside until the end so they have a better idea of how the class is shaping up, but this is a state school with limited resources that has to get through thousands of applications. Lots of qualified kids are still waiting, so don’t give up hope!
No need to worry/panic. I know of LOTS of students, with great academic portfolios (who’ll get in) who applied early and have yet to hear…
Applied October 31st, EA, still waiting for a response. From NYC
@bluedoggy4 I completely disagree with you. first of all admissions are entirely random, there is no pattern where people with higher academic credentials get in first. If u check previous years threads, there are people who have gotten deferred as early as mid December. so your grades and sat/act have nothing to do with it. Second if u check last year’s thread there are still people who are well qualified getting in mid January. As late as the 16th. so don’t worry there are plenty of people waiting to hear back
