I just talked to admission office and they said that they still continue to send out mails and they will send out mails through mid January. Also they said there is no order so they send out randomly
@ Remphin so Acceptances, Deferrals and Rejections are all mailed out randomly?
@bluedoggy4 yes. All random
Yes at least thats what they told me
Did anyone hear today?
@Luna52311 not me.
@lbad96 don’t give up on UMass I am rooting for you! It would really suck if you had to wait until April though
@fallenwinter I’m not giving up on UMass, don’t worry. And yes, that would really suck.
Yes it’s supposedly all random but how many people on CC have said they were rejected or deferred yet? I’m thinking none, so I’m not quite buying “random.”
Many student were accepted Jan 13 last year.
Not me either
@bucky0926 the ppl who got rejected aren’t gonna say they got rejected they just aren’t gonna say anything… But I get what u mean I’m losing hope and I’m scared
I know some will be embarrassed to say they were rejected but not all. And so far I haven’t had anyone state they were deferred or rejected. Yes some will get acceptances this late in the game but I tend to feel that this is when they send out the bad notices. But don’t be scared because your fate has already been sealed-there is nothing you can do now. No getting a higher score on the SAT, no going over the essay again, no studying harder for the math exam. If deferred then you can get accepted-my S is living proof. And if rejected I know it is disappointing but you will wind up at a college you were meant to be at or you can always transfer in (I know that its not ideal but it doesn’t mean you can never go there). The only ones who can’t transfer in are nursing students-they will have to rethink their other options. I’ve read too many CC posts where people said they didn’t want to go to one school or another and then wind up loving it. That doesn’t mean that everyone will love where they go and this includes UMass as well.
I’ve checked previous threads and there are still plenty of people who get accepted this late in the game, @bucky0926 what makes you think this way? From what I’ve seen there are plenty of acceptances in the last week or so. It’s completely random, I know of people who have been accepted with lower stats than a lot of people on this thread this year . Of those people who are waiting what are your stats?
Mine are
3.35 unweighted
3.95/5 weighted
26 act ( 24 reading 28 math)
Yes some are still accepted this late as I stated in post #352 but I wouldn’t say its “plenty.” I think most will be deferred and the waiting will continue. It also depends on what college they applied to as far as those with lower stats. And every year it gets harder and harder. I bet Umass probably will have close to 40,000 applications when all is said and done.
My spire just updated to under review.
My daughter still has not received a decision. I don’t believe there will be too many acceptances this late in the game She applied to nursing. So my bet she was rejected. What I am dismayed about is why colleges feel they should hold on to these rejection/deferred letters to the bitter end. I understand that Admissions says they are sent out randomly, but my experience from my other children is that the acceptances go out early and the rejection letters arrive right at the deadline date (99% of the time). My daughter has been accepted to other great nursing programs but UMass was a financial safety school. I was hoping it would be an option.
I applied EA and have not yet received word back regarding my admissions status. I am, however, a strong candidate for UMass, potentially even the honors college? (fingers crossed!!) I’m interested in international relations.
Stats:
3.89W GPA, 31 ACT, 1900/2400 SAT, 1 AP, full IB diploma candidate (all IB classes junior and senior year), good recommendation letters, excellent essays, ECs: Ballet/Dance (3yrs w/leadership positions), Museum Leadership Council, NHS, Model UN, Speech/Debate Impromptu Speaking (won award on state level), Directed middle school play for two years (service), involved in theatre at my own hs, work experience
After reading that most people receive rejection letters at this point, I’m kind of freaking out. I should get accepted though, right?
Also, does anyone know when they are sending out this weeks letters?
I got accepted today. Didnt get invited to honors college I wasnt obssessed with it anyways. My stats:
4.0 GPA weighted
27 ACT
7 AP courses
In Top 10 in my class
Good EC and essays.
Also I am an immigrant and came to America in my sophomore year I dont know if that helped or not.
