UNC 2017 Transfer Student Thread

So… Classes are already filling up and my dreams of just going to class on Tuesday and Thursday are gone.

Has any one scheduled an appointment with an advisor? I just did and the the earliest I could get a phone appointment was May 1st.

3000work study, 6000 federal pell, and 44000 OOS grant. Out of pocket is 3000

@jay12354 Whoa that’s really good, didn’t know they give that kind of grants to OOS applicants. Hopefully mine will be similar…

I think that is called Carolina Covenant

That’s true. If your family income below 200% poverty.

But I am an independence student, how can they calculate my contribution

Is that your family income too high?

@jay12354: My father’s income is low, so I may get the Covenant. What is your major?

MDS, math decision science

The classes I need to take for my major are full… Is any spots reserved for transfers? And if so, How will I know which are?

Go on schedule builder, click the class and add it to a schedule. Then click on the little “i” and it will tell you how many seats are remaining and how many seats are reserved. Unfortunately, most classes have like 1 reserved spot for transfers and yeah, everything’s already full. @KendraScholar

@isuncforme493 wow thanks… it looks like I’m only going to get 2 out of 5 classes I need. It will feel weird taking three random classes just to fill space. You would think they’d have more than one class open for major required courses.

How many classes will you be taking in the Fall? I am a bit afraid to take more than 12 credits in my first semester.

Do any guys know how the 8 semester graduation works for new transfers?

does your GPA renew when you being UNC?

@sciencegeek1626 Yes it does renew. Does anyone know if you can swap into classes that other students drop up until the day of first classes? It works that way at my current school so that its a not a big deal if you don’t get your first choice classes right away.

Do they send an acceptance letter in the mail as well? Just curious… Im at school, so I’m not sure if it has been sent the house yet.

@johnpfc3 You have to get on the waitlist for the filled class and also leave that time slot free in your schedule in order to get in the class when and if it comes available. I don’t see much of a problem with getting in to a specific class. The big problem is getting into the needed section that fits into your desired schedule.
