They should lol. I was hearing last year kids got some merchandise (hat, shirt, stuff like that)
We received a brochure yesterday about first year housing, but nothing else has come in the mail at this point.
The only stuff that came last year was after the kids completed their orientation (which was online sadly). Hopefully your kids will get an in person orientation which is way better than any welcome packet you might get!
We too only got the housing booklet yesterday, nothing else so far.
Does anyone know whether there be an in-person accepted students day at UNC this spring?
They are doing accepted student tours in person and a lot of virtual events (department, school info etc).
What do they cover in accepted student tours? Has anyone attended one?
We are scheduled to attend one next week - will report back!
Thank you ā I didnāt notice that link on the website earlier but I just found it now!
OOS from Florida. Attended accepted students tour last week. First in person accepted students tour in two years. Tour guide was a little rusty! Showed a dorm room in Alexander which is not for Freshmen. Did a perfunctory tour of Pit, Union, library, etc. It was nice to see campus active! Tour was not super comprehensiveā¦would have liked to have gotten more info and a look at housing and classes. Our guide was a first year and didnāt have a ton of info!
Thanks for sharing the info! Hoping they get a little more organized by the time we do ours next week.
It was definitely worth the visit. We had been in May 2021 and it was very empty. It was a beautiful day and it was so nice to see campus packed with kids.
Thanks for sharing. We are OOS so would like to get a little more out of our visit including visiting freshman dorms, attending classes if possible. We too visited last spring but that was just a self guided tour outside and everything was pretty empty.
We actually went ourselves to South Campus and I knocked on the door and asked a student if he would show us his room. We saw Hinton James. Mother and son had very different opinions of the dormā¦
You might want to reach out to them in advance to see if thatās possible. The tour was not extremely detailed but did give more information than the regular tour (however it covered the exact same route both times). Itās just over a hour in length and the guides are very open to questions.
Thank you, will do that.
Thoughts on Hinton James?
DD was in the same situation. She contacted UNC and let them know. They were wonderful about it evidently. They had her fill out a Change of Transcript form and it did NOT affect her results.
This sounds just like the regular tour we did on the Monday after decisions came out.
I emailed them a while back and it didnāt affect results either. For me, I didnāt even have to fill a change of transcript form - they just did it via email I guess.
