No. That was all that was available to take. So, this semester I just did what the adviser said and took Science classes. The adviser at UNC said it was best to take the Math and English at Chapel Hill. These were all the sciences I could take:
Chem 152
Bio 112
Microbiology (only one class with 4 slots that everyone drops and conflicts with Chem and Bio 165)
Physics (the one I don’t need a.k.a conceptual Physics? You need College Physics, a level above)
Anatomy and Physiology 163 or 165
I have 30 credit hours and 42 at the of the semester.
My professor did not teach! He just told us to do assignments from MyMathLab. My chemistry professor gets major additudes when you ask questions.
It is terrible. I know. I fought hard not to go here. I got accepted to UAB with scholarship but my mom wouldn’t let me go. My dad was okay with it.
The longer i wait the more i feel like I’m going to be rejected I feel like I’m a very shallow applicant with decent numbers but no real personality or compelling characteristics
I applied as an incoming sophomore for the fall of 2015. I currently go to SMU (top 20 undergrad business school in the country). My GPA is a 3.94 and my ACT score was a 30.
I had a very good letter of rec. and believe my essays were solid. Additionally, I have a good amount of work experience and EC’s.
The wait is killing me but we’re at the home stretch ladies and gentlemen! Hopefully we will hear early-mid April.
@bencaldwell I would say you have a good shot! If you look up the average stats of transfer applicants on the UNC website they give you an average GPA, and ACT/SAT for past transfer applicants that were accepted. Also if you google UNC transfer stats, you can find older forums where people state their own stats and talk about which schools they applied to and where they were accepted! It helps you get a better understanding of your chances. Good luck!
@strandedinhell I feel like there are many ways to get involved and meet people. Between clubs, sports, and Greek life if that’s your thing. Also you have anyone on this forum who also gets accepted and attends!
@strandedinhell I have this program through my school that helps me get into Georgetown. It’s not automatic but it “helps” whatever that means. So they’re my first choice but I’m not too confident in Georgetown. So I would say UNC is definitely my first choice. Other than that I have applied to Umich, Vanderbilt, and Fordham! What about you?
I’ve just wrapped up my first semester of sophomore year at NC State but things just don’t seem to be clicking. I haven’t taken much of a liking to the campus environment and fellow students here, so I’ve decided to apply for transfer to UNC in the fall of 2015. Could any of you predict my odds of acceptance?
-3.6 cumulative GPA in Biological Sciences BS at State (3.5 in sciences)
-Undergrad research in nanoparticle toxicity on NC State’s Centennial Campus
-Over 100 hours of volunteer time over the summer in the operating rooms of Carolinas Medical Center
-Member of various clubs (HOSA, pre-med, pre-health)
-Very active in campus ministries
I’ve heard high school specs don’t really matter this far down the road. However, I will share them if needed.
UNC admissions are unpredictable. I think that is what makes it hard.
I received word from the admissions office that they did not need my OOS high school transcript and my to-do list is completed. I am still sending it because I had some interesting classes that did not transfer to my high school. Maybe they want to see it.
Shouldn’t they be about done with reviewing the applications?
Does anyone know what the enrollment deadline is? I can’t visit the campus until after my semester ends and if by chance i do get accepted I’d like to visit the campus first before I make a decision…
@GabekingSG I have no idea when the enrollment date is but I have a buddy at Duke and visit him 3-4 times a year. We always go to UNC to go out and walk around it’s a beautiful campus!
Do you guys know how understanding UNC is? I was originally accepted into the honors program and everything but instead of being realistic and going to Carolina I was overly ambitious and went to a different school that I ended up disliking very, very much. I had an excellent academic record in high school maybe 3.85 UW, 5.1 W?, great extracurriculars and 34 ACT.
Unfortunately I was dismissed from my current school so I’ve been working a full time job and studying for an EMT certification while I wait for my decision. My grades from current school weren’t too shabby but my GPA is much lower than UNC transfer’s average which is what really worries me. The curriculum is said to be more competitive than UNC’s but I’m not sure if that will be taken into consideration. However, I did have a lot of extra curriculars and leadership positions while I was there (helped teach house course, had two jobs, volunteered at a well known hospital etc…)I’m just worried sick that they’ll look at my dismissal and reject me. I’m applying as a sophomore so they should be looking a lot at my highschool file right?
This has been on my mind since December and I haven’t been able to sleep. The decision means a lot to me and I am so, so worried! Does anyone know someone who has been in my situation and could give some feedback? I am applying as an instate student btw. I wrote them a really sincere written statement explaining my situation and what I’ve been doing since
