UF has their own GPA weighting system. They basically take your transcript and apply their own weights to the grades you got. I’m not sure of the specifics, but that’s the general idea. If you get accepted and start taking classes at UF you’ll see the GPA they calculated.
As for the length of time (mine took 3 months before it was referred to college), it’s probably due to the amount of applicants.
@TheDefeater UF doesn’t weight GPA for transfer students, only for high school (AP/DE/IB/AICE/Honor) freshman admits (including freshman who have earned a AA via Duel Enrollment).
They only count academic classes (no PE or such), and it’s on a 4.0 point scale. It’s an extra 0.5 points for honor classes, and an extra 1.0 points for AP/Duel Enrollment/IB/AICE classes.
A “B” in AP Stats is worth 4.0 points (3.0 for the B, plus an extra 1.0), while an A in Honors English is worth 4.5 points.
Does anyone know what the latest date decisions come out for engineering students?
I applied 03/16/2016, it was transfer to the engineering college on 04/19
Pre-req GPA: 3.50
GPA: 3.85
My friend was first told that decisions would come after May 15th, but when he called today, he was told that everyone would have their decision by May 20th.
I know I did more than my fair share of complaining in this thread. Congrats to all those accepted, and good luck to those still waiting. (Engineering should give out decisions soon).
Current Institution: Florida Public Two Year/Community College (don’t want to say which one as it’s a dead giveaway as to who I am…)
Current Overall GPA: 3.83
Pre Prof GPA: 3.5
Major: CALS AEC CLD
@Jaime10 I am also a CALS transfer…I applied mid-February and still have no decision…however I was in Gainesville at the end of April and inquired about when we should hear in the CALS Dean’s Office as that is who admissions directed me to and all they could say was “we are working on that and decisions are released as soon as possible…if you don’t hear anything by August 1st to contact them but not until then.”
My application was referred to CALS for a final decision mid-March IIRC, all transcripts are received however since I just got my A.A. I will be sending a final transcript to them once degrees from my CC are posted to transcripts…they are also in the middle of building renovations in the McCartys so sadly I think this plays a role in this with people in and out of their offices…I hate waiting but unfortunately for us agriculture majors in CALS they can because there’s no where else we’ll go in Florida as UF is our ag school…@Jaime10 not sure if you’re an ag major or if you’re biology, micro, etc. that are also in CALS but that’s a little of my insight…I have been around CALS for a while through my involvement in agriculture but not yet as a student…Good Luck!
I just got accepted today! Last week CALS requested my updated transcript and received it on the 17th. An unbelievably long process but I made it! Good luck to everyone still waiting!
Did anyone who applied as a Finance major or any business major received his/her decision? Also, any idea when will business majors get their decision? Thanks.
Just a heads up, those that are majoring in chemical engineering, the department will begin evaluating the application this week and should have your application update very soon within 7-10 days!
I just got admitted to UF!! I didn’t post my stats yet so here you go:
Current Institution: Miami-Dade College
Current GPA: 3.71
Pre-Prof GPA: 3.89
College/Major: Chemical Engineering
So happy I was finally admitted(This late is insane!), I turned down 2 other universities to wait for UF, thank god I did!
I wish all the other engineers luck in admission!!
