Can we take a moment and appreciate @ohrid2022 recent post on this page… thank you for enforcing respect during this time of anxiousness. A lot of ppl bash other’s claims when we should be giving EVERYONE the benefit of the doubt. Thanks for being optimistic. Let’s see what happens tho

@dreamchaser2k18 yes, let’s all respect others opinions. But, unless said by a verified source don’t post and say how you’re “100% sure decisions come out today” and etc. You lose credibility and create anxiousness among people. Thanks, and lets all hope they come out Monday!

Thank you!

I agree. After the decisions come out there will be far better things for everyone to chew on. Judging by the other EA threads I have followed for similar ranked schools(Tulane, Case Western, Northeastern, etc) expect that this year the acceptance rates to fall greatly and a whole ton of people who were sure they would get in will be deferred, and that those accepted will get way less merit aid than they thought they would. I hate to say it, but that’s been the trend at this level of school this year for EA applicants so I don’t know why UM would be any different. So I guess my point is, remember to be civil AFTER the decisions post too.

So no decisions today - hopefully they’ll actually get it out by February 1 but I’m skeptical

I think that they’re defintely going to come out before Feb 1st, the 25th of January seems the most likely to be honest

25th or 29th

Interesting point @EDHDAD about increased competitiveness at this level of school. My D did get into Tulane but I have a bad feeling about Miami… just a gut feel I am having. Hopefully we are both wrong, but your observation is - sadly - most likely very accurate. My D is focusing on finals right now (not looking at CC); I am the one who is nervous! We will know within a week…good luck to all!

@3monkeys I’m in the same situation. I got into Tulane EA but I don’t have a good feeling about Miami

if u got into tulane than you’ll get into miami don’t worry th only way u won’t get in is if they think your over qualified… if you can get into tulane u can get into miami

@3monkeys and @Kd6410 I think that if you already made it into Tulane EA then your odds are good you will make it into Miami too. In our case, we really like Tulane so we are not sweating the Miami decision. If accepted to Miami with a comparable net cost to Tulane then we will take a trip to check it out. We already have our trip planned to visit Tulane for the honors weekend so this won’t change anything for us.

@EDHDAD Normally I’d agree but when the AO came to my school they emphasized school involvement (of which I have almost none) so we’ll see

D does like Tulane a lot and we are scheduled for accepted student visit, but Miami was her very first college visit and she hasn’t stopped talking about it since. And that was sophomore year! The point about the money is important, though. If the merit aid is greatly reduced this year, it may be the deal breaker (if she even gets in). She is also in at her very well respected state flagship with its more affordable price point, which we parents like
Fingers crossed on this one.

@sss111222 That’s not true. Tulane is very comparable to miami academic wise so getting admission to one does not guarantee admission to the other

@strafed I agree that they are comparable. I would give a slight advantage to Tulane. @Kd6410 They said the same thing in terms of school involvement about Case Western and Northeastern and it did not hurt us at all at those schools. @3monkeys You hit the nail on the head. It’s not getting admitted you should worry about, it’s the money.

same here
accepted EA Tulaneworried for Miami

Very nervous about DS acceptance too. Had thought it was a Target school for him with his 35 ACT, 1530 SAT, 14 APs and in top 10% of his very competitive HS. He didn’t get the scholarship weekend invite, which makes me wonder that he possibly didn’t get accepted. He applied to the Rosenstuel school, which is possibly very hard to get in. Fingers crossed for everyone and good luck to you all!

I was accepted to Tulane EA, but deferred from Northeastern, so I’m worried about Miami now.
