University of Michigan Ann Arbor Class of 2022 Early Action

The decision is either gonna be this Wednesday or Friday but more likely it will be Friday

I’m gonna say Wednesday since they always leave themselves one or two days in the office after they release the decisions. Also, last year it was the Wednesday before the 24th.

Chance me!

ACT: 32
SAT: 1450

Current Course Load: AP Stats, AP Physics, AP Calc BC, Reg Literature, AP Government, Reg Econ, Symphonic Wind Ensemble.

EC: Play in top Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble at my high school. Play in local community college Jazz Band and semi-professional group. Member of selective All-State Symphonic Band and Jazz Band, as well as National Concert Band (very prestigious groups, not very many people selected). Master Carpenter and Light Board Operator for our technical theater program.

Work: Sell balsamic vinegar and pasta at local farmer’s market. Teach private music lessons to beginners.

Applying to LSA for general admit as well as School of Theater Music and Dance. Asking about my chances of getting in general admit, as my music admission is based on an audition that will occur in late winter.
Thanks!

I was told by a friend with twins (who had similar stats) that selective schools have a “twin policy” under which they either accept both twins or reject both twins. This can be a problem for twins applying to very selective schools because this means that the school needs to want two students from the same high school with the same or similar (if boy/girl twins) demographics.

@MomofJ5 Really?? What if they have different stats but similar resumes?

Does anyone know if they will update the portal first or send out mail?

both

Any updates from reliable sources?? Also could it be Thursday? Or just Wednesday or Friday.

Yes, I’m also wondering that

Omg I’m so nervous!!! Best of luck to everybody!

The History of U of M would likely release on Wednesday, a few friends know for sure that they received theirs earlier than the last day. does anyone know what the chances are for a 4.0 GPA with 1200SAT score would get? I’m in a mathematic AP class with extra curricular activity fundraising over $47,000 in cancer research and MVP in golf as a state level qualifier 2 times and regional champion. Does anyone know of people with low SAT score that made it?

regarding twins - not the case with my sister’s twins - one Duke one UVA, both waitlisted at the other’s school.

So, I know everyone is thinking either Wednesday or Friday. What do y’all think the likelihood for each day?
Also, what do y’all project the breakdown of responses to be, like % deny, % accept, % defer?

I might be dead wrong about this, but last year I’m pretty sure they didn’t get through all of their applications by the EA release date, so they reviewed the most strong applicants first and then deferred the rest until RD. So there might not have been any rejections. If this is what happened last year, it might happen this year too, especially since a record number of people applied this year.

@jin2000 So you’re saying they might just defer people because they ran out of time?

Possibly. I remember looking at the CC thread for the EA class of 2021 and seeing nothing but either acceptances or deferred applicants.

It’s possible that may happen again, but I’m also hoping that they learned from their mistakes and took action to maybe fix what happened last year

I would hope so, that sounds kinda sloppy on their part. With that in mind, does that make Friday more likely than Wednesday as they might need the time?

Alternatively, UM may have planned better this season by hiring more reviewers to get through all applications, especially since the amount of applications seems to increase every year.

Is there any factual support that UM didn’t get through all the EA applications last year, so they deferred the rest to RD?

^^I would be interested to see that too
